Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 1 Episode 22

Okay, let's talk Mushoku Tensei. Specifically, episode 22 from season 1. "Turning Point 1". Dramatic, right?
Now, I'm going to say something that might get me crucified. Maybe. But I need to get this off my chest.
Unpopular Opinion Incoming
I wasn't totally blown away. Don't get me wrong, it was good! Just...not OMG-best-episode-ever good.
Must Read
Hear me out! There was so much hype. The buildup was real. Everyone was saying it was life-changing.
Maybe my expectations were just too high? It felt like waiting in line for the hottest new burger joint, only to find out the burger is… just a burger. A perfectly decent burger, but still. Just a burger.
Rudeus's PTSD
Let's talk about Rudeus. The poor guy is a mess. And understandably so! Falling out of the sky? Seeing your friends disappear? That's rough.

His reaction felt real, raw, and a little awkward. Which, honestly, is pretty on brand for him. It’s good character development!
But did it completely shatter my world and make me question my existence? Not quite.
Eris's Departure
Eris leaving? Yeah, that stung. I get why she did it. She wanted to become stronger, to be worthy of Rudeus. The classic shonen trope. Still got me though.
That little note she left? Heartbreaking. But also a bit… cliché? Maybe it's just me.

Did anyone else feel like the scene was overly drawn out? A bit melodramatic? Just asking for a friend.
The Teleport Incident
The teleport incident itself? Visually stunning. The chaos? The mystery? I’m hooked for season two!
The animation was top-notch. No complaints there. It looked fantastic.
However, I am starting to wonder about the worldbuilding logic. What are the teleportation rules? Who is to blame?

Where's the Humor?
One thing I missed in this episode was the humor. Mushoku Tensei can be pretty funny. The lighthearted moments are a nice balance to all the drama.
This episode was all doom and gloom. I understand it, and I see its importance, but where is my funny goblin punching scene?
Maybe a little levity would have made the heavier parts hit even harder. Or maybe I just have a weird sense of humor.
Final Verdict (Maybe?)
So, yeah. "Turning Point 1" was a solid episode. Important. Character-defining. Definitely not bad.

But did it reach the legendary status some people gave it? For me, personally? Not quite. Sorry!
Don’t get mad. Everyone has different tastes! I am sure season 2 will be better. I am also pretty sure that the writing of the series is great. It just didn't land perfectly for me.
Anyone else feel the same way? Or am I alone on this deserted island of unpopular opinions? I want to know!
I'm ready for the backlash. Bring it on!
