March Comes In Like A Lion Figure

Okay, let's talk about something. Something everyone seems to agree on. And that's where my unpopular opinion comes in.
March: Friend or Foe?
You know the saying: "March comes in like a lion, and goes out like a lamb." It's supposed to mean the month starts rough and ends calm.
But does it, really? I'm not convinced.
Must Read
The Lion's Roar (That's Actually a Meow)
People picture blizzards, howling winds, and generally awful weather. This "lion" is supposed to be fierce.
Honestly? My March usually starts with drizzle. Maybe a grumpy sky. That's more kitten than lion.
A grumpy, shedding, demanding kitten.

The Lamb's Nap (That's Actually a Snore)
Then we're promised a "lamb." Gentle breezes, sunshine, budding flowers. Ah, spring!
My March often ends with more drizzle. And sometimes, just to be spiteful, a random snow flurry. The lamb is sleeping. Soundly. Until April.
Someone needs to check on that lamb. I suspect it's actually a bear hibernating. A very, very stubborn bear.
My Unpopular Opinion: It's All a Lie
I think the saying is just…wrong. Or maybe my area is perpetually stuck in meteorological limbo.

Perhaps Mother Nature missed the memo. Or she's deliberately trolling us. Either is possible.
Don't get me wrong. I want the lion and the lamb. I crave the dramatic transition. The roaring start and peaceful finish.
But reality? More like March comes in like a slightly annoyed badger and goes out like a slightly less annoyed badger.

Alternative March Analogies (That Are Way More Accurate)
Instead of a lion and lamb, here are some options I find more fitting:
- March comes in like a Tuesday and goes out like a slightly better Tuesday.
- March comes in like a lukewarm cup of coffee and goes out like a slightly colder cup of coffee.
- March comes in like trying to untangle Christmas lights and goes out like…still trying to untangle Christmas lights.
See? Relatable.
It's All About Perspective, Right?
Maybe I'm being cynical. Maybe other places experience the true ferocity of the March lion and the gentleness of the March lamb.
If so, I'm jealous. Send pictures!

But for me, March is just…March. A month of unpredictable weather, lingering winter blues, and the faint, distant promise of spring. A long, gray period that feels endless.
So, what do you think? Is March a roaring lion and gentle lamb in your world? Or is it something else entirely? Maybe a slightly damp squirrel? Let me know!
And if you agree with me, we can start a support group. We'll call it "March Disbelievers Anonymous." Meetings will be held indoors. Because it's probably raining.
Let's fight that grumpy squirrel together!
