Maquia When The Promised Flower Blooms Netflix

Maquia When The Promised Flower Blooms Netflix

Okay, let's talk about Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms on Netflix. Everyone raves about it, right? Beautiful animation. Heart-wrenching story. Prepare to cry buckets.

The Great Anime Debate Begins!

But, and this is a big but, am I the only one who found it… a little much? I mean, I teared up, sure. But I also kept thinking, "Okay, okay, I get it. Sad. Very sad."

Don't get me wrong! The visuals were stunning. Seriously, Netflix paid good money for this animation. The character designs were also gorgeous.

A Mother's Love...or Overkill?

The whole 'eternal youth' thing of the Iorph clan was interesting. And Maquia's dedication to Ariel? Undeniable. But the melodrama dial was cranked up to eleven, wasn't it?

Maybe I'm just heartless. Or maybe I've seen too many anime tearjerkers. My tear ducts are probably just numb at this point.

Plus, let's be real, Ariel was kind of a brat sometimes. A lovable brat, yes. But a brat nonetheless!

He does grow up, of course, becoming a handsome young man, making Maquia's life a little more complicated. Talk about eternal parental guilt!

World-Building Woes and Wonders

The world-building was a bit… vague. Kingdoms warring, dragons dying. All cool concepts, definitely! But did I fully understand the political motivations? Nope.

I was too busy trying to keep track of all the characters and their tragic backstories to fully invest in the larger conflict.

And the dragons! Oh, the poor Renato. They just wanted to chill and fly around. Instead, they become war machines!

Unpopular Opinion Time!

So, here it is. My unpopular opinion: Maquia is good. Visually impressive. But maybe a tad overrated. I prefer my anime with a little less… emotional intensity.

I like stories with happy endings. Is that so wrong? Give me sunshine and rainbows! Or at least, maybe a slightly less tragic ending.

Don't get me started on Leilia's story! Another tragic character tossed into the emotional wood chipper.

The Verdict?

Ultimately, Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms is worth watching. Just bring tissues. Lots of them. And maybe a comfort blanket. You'll need it.

And maybe after watching, you can also be like me and crave for a fluffy lighthearted anime. Then, you realize, there is a balance in the anime universe.

So, where can you find a fluffy anime on Netflix? Someone tell me! I need to recover from all the feels.
