Manga The Saint's Magic Power Is Omnipotent

Okay, let's talk about The Saint's Magic Power Is Omnipotent. It's a manga (and anime!) that a lot of people seem to adore.
I've read it. Multiple times, even. And... well, here's my unpopular opinion. Prepare yourselves!
Is Sei...Kinda Boring?
Now, hear me out! Sei Takanashi is supposed to be this amazing, powerful saint. She can whip up potions like nobody's business.
Must Read
But does she...do much else? She's mostly just polite and a bit passive, right?
I sometimes find myself screaming internally, "Girl, live a little! Cause some chaos (with good intentions, of course)!" It's like she's allergic to conflict.
Let's Discuss Albert Hawke...
And then there's Albert Hawke. Tall, dark, and brooding. The textbook definition of "anime hottie."

Everyone's all aflutter over him. And okay, I get it. He's got the whole mysterious knight thing going on.
But is he really THAT interesting? He seems to spend most of his time staring intensely at Sei. Which, admittedly, is a superpower in itself.
I mean, the man seems to be built from 80% brooding stares and 20% killing demons. Can we see some more personality, please?
The Potion-Making Grind
Don't get me wrong, the potion-making is cool! Seeing Sei experiment and create new remedies is definitely enjoyable.

But sometimes it feels like... a lot of potion-making. We get it, Sei! You're a whiz in the lab!
It's like watching a really well-animated cooking show, except instead of food, it's medicine. Which, to be fair, is arguably more useful. Still... needs some spice!
The Other Characters Deserve More Love!
The side characters are where it's at! I'm talking about Jude, Liz and Yuri. They are all fascinating.

They have actual personalities and ambitions. They are complex characters who need some more screen time!
Why can't we have a spin-off about Liz's adventures? Or maybe a buddy cop series with Jude and Yuri? Someone get on that!
The Overall Vibe
Look, The Saint's Magic Power Is Omnipotent is a pleasant, relaxing watch/read. It's like a warm bath on a cold day.
There's nothing particularly wrong with it. It's just… kind of… safe.

I wish it would take a few more risks. Shake things up a bit. Maybe let Sei accidentally create a potion that turns everyone into talking animals for an episode!
I still enjoy it for what it is. A low-stakes, feel-good story. But sometimes, I crave a little more oomph!
Don't hate me for my unpopular opinion! I know a lot of people adore this series, and that's perfectly fine.
Maybe I'm just a grumpy old lady who wants everything to be more dramatic. Who knows?
But hey, at least we can all agree that the art is gorgeous, right? And that's something!
