Malcolm In The Middle Season 7 Episode 22

Okay, let's talk Malcolm in the Middle. Specifically, Season 7, Episode 22. You know, the one where Reese gets married?
I know, I know. It’s the end! Everyone loves it. They cry. They reminisce about the good old days.
But… unpopular opinion incoming! I think it’s kinda… meh.
Must Read
Reese Gets Hitched (Maybe?)
The main plot? Reese, in a moment of pure, unadulterated Reese-ness, marries a Canadian girl named Patricia. Impulsively. In Vegas.
I get the comedic value. Reese is a lovable goofball. His terrible life choices are half the fun.
But this one felt… rushed. Like they needed a Big Event to end the series and just picked a random one.
Hal’s Shenanigans (Again)
Hal, being Hal, gets into some wacky scheme. It involves roller skates and questionable financial decisions. Shocking, I know.

Honestly, Bryan Cranston is a treasure. He could make reading a phone book hilarious.
But even his comedic genius couldn't fully save this subplot. It felt detached from the main story.
Lois Being Lois
Lois, predictably, freaks out about Reese’s marriage. She's Lois! Controlled chaos is her brand.
She tries to fix everything. She yells. She stresses. Standard Lois procedure, basically.
Jane Kaczmarek is amazing. I truly believe she DESERVED more awards for her portrayal of Lois.

Dewey's Got a Secret?
There’s a subplot about Dewey finding a bunch of money. Turns out it belongs to a gangster.
Again, funny in isolation. But it doesn’t really add much to the overall episode.
It feels like filler. Like they needed to pad out the runtime.
The Problem? Underdeveloped
My biggest issue? Patricia. We barely know her. She's just...there.

She's Canadian. She's nice (ish). She married Reese. That's about it.
We don't see their connection. We don't understand why they got married. It just...happened.
A quick Vegas wedding to a stranger for Reese? Sure, I buy it. The story of why is more important.
It needed more backstory. It needed more character development for Patricia. It needed...something!
Plus, the ending is ambiguous. Did they stay married? Did they get divorced? We never find out!

A Disappointing Finale?
Don’t get me wrong. I love Malcolm in the Middle. It's a classic.
But I just don’t think this was the strongest way to end the show. So much was left unanswered.
Maybe I’m alone in this. Maybe everyone else loved it. But I wanted more. I wanted closure.
I needed a true sendoff for such a phenomenal show and the family we've come to know so well. It just felt a little flat.
Am I the only one who feels this way? Let me know!
