Life With An Ordinary Guy Who Reincarnated

Okay, so my boyfriend, Dave, used to be a medieval blacksmith. I know, I know, it sounds totally bonkers. But hear me out, life with a reincarnated blacksmith is… surprisingly normal. Except for the occasional, uh, blacksmith-y tendencies.

The Everyday Blacksmith

Let’s start with the basics. Dave still does regular, twenty-first-century guy stuff. He binge-watches Netflix, complains about his commute, and burns toast just like anyone else. His love for Stranger Things is totally modern.

But then, there are the other things. For example, he’s obsessed with metal. Any metal. A cool-looking fence? Five minutes of intense staring and a detailed analysis of the welding technique. A shiny spoon? He'll spend a good minute polishing it. It's endearing, mostly.

Dinner Date Dilemmas

Eating out can be an adventure. Steakhouses are his personal heaven. But ordering? Forget about it. He'll interrogate the waiter about the iron content in the meat. Seriously, he once asked if the grill was coal-fired for that authentic, medieval smoky flavor. I just wanted a burger.

Don't even get me started on silverware. He’s convinced modern forks are flimsy and impractical. He keeps muttering about needing to "forge a proper eating implement." I’m half expecting him to show up with a hand-hammered spork one day.

Household Chores, Blacksmith Style

Household repairs are where things get truly interesting. Forget calling a handyman. Dave's convinced he can fix anything with enough hammering and ingenuity. The squeaky door? Fixed! With a new, hand-forged hinge (that took him three days to make). The leaky faucet? Also "fixed," though it now drips hotter water than before.

He also believes duct tape is a crime against humanity. Apparently, in his past life, everything was fixed with rivets and elbow grease. So, expect a lot of rivets in unexpected places. Our toaster is now sporting decorative rivets, and I'm not entirely sure why.

Romantic Gestures (with a Touch of Metal)

Romance isn't dead, it's just...metallically inclined. Forget flowers. I got a hand-forged iron rose for Valentine’s Day. It’s beautiful, in a very heavy and potentially weaponizable way. He also tried to make me a horseshoe necklace for our anniversary. It’s currently a keychain. It was a bit too unwieldy for everyday wear.

He does have a sweet side, though. He often tells me about his past life. About the heat of the forge, the satisfaction of shaping metal, and the surprisingly sophisticated social life of medieval blacksmiths. He claims they were the original influencers. I just nod and smile.

The Upsides of Dating a Reincarnated Craftsman

Honestly, despite the quirks, dating Dave, my ordinary-ish guy who used to be someone totally extra-ordinary, is pretty awesome. He's incredibly handy (literally). He's passionate about his interests, even the historical ones.

He also brings a unique perspective to everyday problems. He’s a problem solver at heart, always looking for creative ways to fix things, whether it's a broken chair or a bad day at work.

So, yeah, life with a reincarnated blacksmith is definitely not boring. It's a blend of modern living and medieval musings. It's a little weird, a little wonderful, and a whole lot of love. Plus, I always have someone who can open a stuck pickle jar.

And who knows, maybe one day I'll finally get that hand-forged spork. I'm sure it'll be a "unique" dining experience.
