Law & Order Special Victims Unit Season 22 Episode 8

Okay, let's talk Law & Order: SVU. Specifically, season 22, episode 8. " ഓർമയുണ്ടോ?" Remember that one? I have some thoughts. Some potentially controversial thoughts.
Unpopular Opinion Time!
I'm going to say it. It wasn’t the worst episode ever. I know, I know, gasp! But hear me out. There were things to appreciate.
Firstly, Mariska Hargitay always brings it. Her performance as Olivia Benson is consistently great. Even when the plot gets a little… out there.
Must Read
The Case Itself…Meh
The case, involving a group of college students and allegations of sexual assault, was definitely timely. It tried to be relevant. But did it stick the landing? Debatable.
It felt a bit… textbook. Like they were ticking boxes. "Rape culture? Check. Gray area? Check. Privilege? Check."
I feel like they tried to include too many angles. The nuance got a little lost. Maybe that's just me.

And speaking of lost, where was the suspense? The big twists? The "OMG!" moments? I was mostly just… observing.
I can’t say that I was on the edge of my seat.
Characters I Wanted More Of
Fin Tutuola, played by Ice-T, is always a highlight. Even in a lukewarm episode. He brings the cynical wisdom.
He needs his own spin-off. Just saying.

And Carisi! I am all for Carisi being an ADA. He's evolved so much. But I miss him in the squad room.
I think his character would be more compelling if we get a mix of him in the court and in the precinct.
That Ending, Though...
The ending felt a bit… rushed. It wrapped up a little too neatly. In a bow that was a little too perfect.

Real life is messy. SVU is usually messy, too. This episode felt a little too sanitized.
It was like they were trying to get to the next one.
Don't Get Me Wrong…
I'm not saying it was terrible. Just… forgettable. It's like the TV equivalent of beige. Inoffensive, but not exactly exciting.
I have watched this show for so long, there are episodes that I can rewatch and will rewatch. I don’t think this will be one of them.

And even a mediocre episode of SVU is still better than a lot of other shows. Let’s be honest.
Plus, it's Law & Order. I'll keep watching. I'm too invested now. They've got me hooked.
I am just hoping for more surprises and less ticking-boxes.
So, yeah, maybe I'm alone in thinking this episode wasn't a complete disaster. But hey, someone had to say it. Now, bring on the next case!
