Law And Order Svu Season 23 Episode 2

SVU Season 23, Episode 2: My Confession (Maybe a Little Dramatic?)
Okay, confession time. I just re-watched Law & Order: SVU, Season 23, Episode 2, "The Five Hundredth Episode." And you know what? It was… fine. Just fine.
Don't get me wrong. I love SVU. I've seen every episode. (Probably multiple times. Don't judge.)
Rollins' Big Episode: Overhyped?
This one was a big Rollins episode. Huge. Full of flashbacks. Full of angst. Was it a little much?
Must Read
Look, Kelli Giddish is amazing. No argument there. She can deliver a gut-wrenching performance in her sleep. But sometimes, I feel like the writers lean too hard into her troubled past.
We get it. She had a rough childhood. Her sister's a mess. It's a recurring theme. And honestly? It's getting a tad repetitive. Just my humble (and possibly unpopular) opinion.
The Case Itself: Pretty Standard
Let's talk about the actual case. A cop shooting. Internal Affairs involved. Lots of shady characters. Standard SVU fare, right?

It wasn't bad. Not at all. But it wasn't particularly groundbreaking. I mean, we've seen variations of this plot a hundred times before.
The twists and turns were predictable. I figured out the "bad guy" pretty early on. Maybe I've just watched too much television. Or maybe the writers were phoning it in a little bit?
Carisi and Rollins: Still Cute, Though
Okay, gotta give credit where it's due. Carisi and Rollins are adorable. Their dynamic is one of the best things about the show right now. Fight me.

Every scene with them together is gold. Even when they're just awkwardly flirting. Their relationship adds a layer of warmth to the otherwise dark subject matter.
I'm still rooting for them to get married. Just saying.
The "Big Twist": Eye Roll or Gasp?
The ending... well, let's just say it was a choice. The whole "Rollins facing the consequences of her past actions" thing felt a little forced.

Did I gasp dramatically? Not really. Did I roll my eyes a little? Maybe. Just a tiny bit.
It felt like they were trying too hard to create a cliffhanger. And honestly? I wasn't that invested. Sorry, not sorry.
Overall: Still Watchable, Just Not Top Tier
So, overall, "The Five Hundredth Episode" was... okay. Not terrible, not amazing. Just a solid, middle-of-the-road SVU episode.

I'll still be tuning in next week, of course. Because I'm a Law & Order addict. There's no cure.
But let's be real. SVU has given us so many memorable episodes. This one, sadly, won't be making my "Best Of" list. Sue me.
What are your thoughts? Am I being too harsh? Let me know! (But be nice.)
Maybe I'm just hard to please. Or maybe I've seen too much Olivia Benson in my life. Either way, SVU still holds a special place in my heart. Even when it disappoints me a little.
