Law And Order Svu Season 13 Episode 2

SVU: "Personal Fouls" - Did It Age Like Fine Wine? Or Sour Grapes?
Okay, let's talk SVU. Specifically, Season 13, Episode 2, "Personal Fouls." Remember that one? The one with the basketball star?
It aired way back in 2011. So, has it stood the test of time? Or is it, dare I say, a little…cringey now?
The Case That Had Us All Talking
A promising young basketball player, Darius, is accused of rape. Classic SVU setup, right? Lots of he-said, she-said. A whole lot of conflicting stories.
Must Read
The victim, Trina, is a college student. The details are messy. It’s SVU, after all, messy comes with the territory.
And, of course, there's the pressure from the community. High profile athlete involved? Cue the drama.
Fin Tutuola: Underrated MVP
Let’s be real, Ice-T as Fin Tutuola is always a highlight. He brings a certain…realness to the squad.
In this episode, Fin's street smarts are crucial. He navigates the social dynamics of the basketball world. He gets people to actually TALK.

Fin's reactions are always gold. You can tell what he is thinking just by looking at him. Bless his heart!
Benson and Stabler…Oh Wait!
Here's where my unpopular opinion might come in. Olivia Benson is iconic, obviously. But, Stabler is gone by this point. Remember the trauma?
His absence changes the dynamic. It's not the same without the Stabler-Benson tension!
Don't get me wrong, the show still works. But the energy is different. Slightly less shouty.

The "Dated" Factor
Rewatching it now, some aspects feel…old. The technology, the slang, some of the attitudes.
It's a time capsule of 2011. Landlines are used. Remember those? The fashion choices are...questionable.
But, honestly, that adds to the charm! It’s fun to see how much things have changed (and haven't changed).
The Victim Blaming...Yikes!
Okay, this is where it gets a little less funny. Some of the dialogue around Trina's choices makes me cringe.

There's some subtle (and not-so-subtle) victim blaming. It’s a reminder of how far we've (hopefully) come in these conversations.
It’s a tough watch in some moments. Especially with a modern lens.
Unpopular Opinion Time: Overrated Episode?
Here it is, my controversial statement. "Personal Fouls" is…okay. Not great. Not terrible. Just…okay.
Compared to some other SVU episodes, it’s a bit forgettable. There aren’t any truly shocking twists.

The resolution is somewhat predictable. It feels like a fairly standard procedural.
Final Verdict: Still Watchable?
Despite its flaws, "Personal Fouls" is still worth a watch for SVU fans. Especially if you’re feeling nostalgic.
It's a decent episode, especially for the Fin Tutuola moments. But don't expect a groundbreaking masterpiece.
Just be prepared for some cringe-worthy moments. And maybe have some snacks handy. You know, for emotional support.
What do you think? Am I being too harsh? Let me know!
