Kobayashi Dragon Maid Season 2 Episode 2

Okay, let's talk Kobayashi's Dragon Maid S, episode 2. Specifically, that whole "new dragon in town" situation.
Don't get me wrong, I adore this show. The animation is gorgeous, the characters are precious, and the overall vibe is just pure, wholesome chaos.
Kanna's New Friend: Yay or Nay?
But... Am I the only one who found Kanna's sudden BFF a little...much? Don't get me wrong, I get it. Kids make friends fast.
Must Read
One minute they're trading stickers, the next they're plotting world domination (with sprinkles, of course). Still, something felt off.
Maybe it's just me being protective of our little dragon loli. Kanna is perfect! Why do we need a new friend?
The Ilulu Problem
And then there's Ilulu. The new dragon is definitely... something.

Look, I appreciate a complex character. Someone with a troubled past and a journey to self-discovery. But Ilulu felt like they crammed a whole arc into one episode.
Is it just me, or did anyone else feel like her sudden turnaround was too quick? I'm not saying it wasn't heartwarming, but I'm also not buying that Ilulu suddenly wanted to be buddies after her initial rampage.
Especially her character design. I know, I know, dragons are supposed to be powerful. But did she really need to be THAT powerful?

Her interactions with Kobayashi felt like a blatant fanservice moment. Again, I'm not judging anyone for enjoying it. But it did feel a little out of place.
Fafnir: The Real MVP
Let's be honest, Fafnir steals every scene he's in. The guy is a grumpy, video game-obsessed dragon. And I love him for it.
His deadpan reactions to everything were absolute gold. Seriously, can we get a Fafnir spin-off? I'd watch the heck out of that.

His awkwardness with the cleaning robot was amazing. He's an ancient dragon who hoardes treasure, but is scared of a vacuum cleaner.
The Unpopular Opinion Part
Okay, here it is. My unpopular opinion: I think Kobayashi's Dragon Maid S, episode 2, was a little... rushed. It felt like they were trying to cram too much into one episode.
Maybe I'm just being overly critical. And let's be real, even a slightly-off episode of Dragon Maid is still better than most anime out there.

But I still feel like Ilulu's introduction could have been handled better. More build-up, less instant friendship, and maybe a slightly less...intense character design.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still excited to see where the series goes. The characters are still amazing, the animation is still stunning, and the overall story is still incredibly charming.
I just hope they take their time with Ilulu's character development. And maybe give Fafnir a little more screen time. Just a thought!
So, what do you think? Am I totally off base? Did you love Ilulu from the start? Let me know! Let's discuss the dragon drama.
