Kingdom Hearts Dark Road Offline Release Date

Okay, let's talk about something near and dear to the hearts of Kingdom Hearts fans: Dark Road. Or, more specifically, the offline version. You know, the one we've been waiting on... seemingly forever?
Remember when they announced they were taking it offline? Good times. Promises were made. Expectations were set. Then... crickets. Chirp, chirp.
The Eternal Wait: Where IS Dark Road Offline?
Honestly, at this point, I'm starting to think Xehanort is holding onto the release date just to mess with us. Maybe he's using it to unlock Kingdom Hearts. Who knows with that guy?
Must Read
Every time a Square Enix presentation rolls around, I brace myself. Is this it? Will they finally grace us with the offline version of Dark Road? Nope. More Final Fantasy announcements. More Dragon Quest. Don't get me wrong, I love those games, but COME ON!
Unpopular Opinion Time: It's Already Here (In Our Hearts)
Okay, here's my hot take, the one that might get me exiled to the Realm of Darkness: Maybe... just maybe... it already exists. I mean, in a way.

Think about it. We've seen the cutscenes. We know the story (mostly). We’ve watched YouTube summaries from people way more dedicated than I am. Are we really missing that much?
Let's be real, half the fun of Kingdom Hearts is being confused anyway.

Maybe Square Enix knows this! Maybe they're just letting us fill in the blanks with our imaginations. Genius move, really. Saves them development costs. We’re basically beta testers, but without getting paid. Or the game.
Dreaming of a Shiny New (Offline) Future
But seriously, I'm still holding out hope. Imagine playing Dark Road on my Nintendo Switch. On the bus. During awkward family gatherings. Pure bliss.

I dream of customizable controls. No more annoying gacha mechanics. Just pure, unadulterated Xehanort origin story goodness. Is that too much to ask?
Okay, it probably is. Square Enix, if you're listening, just give us SOMETHING. A release date, a trailer, even just a cryptic tweet. Anything to prove you haven't completely forgotten about this poor, abandoned child of the Kingdom Hearts universe.

We, the fans, are patient (mostly). But even the most patient fans have a breaking point. Don't make us turn to the darkness! Unless... is that what you WANT, Square Enix?!
Maybe they are trying to turn us into Seekers of Darkness. Maybe this is all part of the plan. Maybe I need to stop overthinking this. But I won’t!
So, when will Dark Road Offline finally arrive? Your guess is as good as mine. Until then, I'll be here, rewatching the cutscenes and refreshing the Square Enix news feed. And maybe, just maybe, believing that one day, Xehanort's past will finally be in our hands.
