Kimetsu No Yaiba: The Movie - Mugen Train

Okay, let's talk Demon Slayer: Mugen Train. Remember that movie? The one everyone went absolutely bonkers for?
Yeah, that one. Buckle up, buttercups, because I'm about to drop a few "unpopular" opinions.
The Hype Train... Was a Little Overcrowded
Look, I enjoyed Mugen Train. But did it deserve all the records it broke? Maybe not quite so much.
Must Read
I mean, the animation was gorgeous. Ufotable always delivers. But let's be real, the story itself wasn't exactly Shakespeare, was it?
It felt like a really long, intense episode. Which, honestly, isn't a bad thing! Just... not the revolutionary masterpiece everyone claimed.
Rengoku: A Little Too Inspirational?
Okay, hear me out before you sharpen your pitchforks. Kyojuro Rengoku is awesome. Flaming hair, booming voice, loves sweet potatoes.
But did he have to be so darn inspirational? Dude was practically radiating pure, unadulterated optimism.

It felt a little... forced? Like the writers were desperately trying to make us cry. And hey, it worked! I’ll admit it. But still… eye roll
The "Trauma Train" Is Real
Let's be honest, Demon Slayer pulls no punches. These kids have seen some stuff. Serious stuff.
But Mugen Train dialed the trauma up to eleven. Everyone’s having nightmares. It gets pretty dark, pretty fast.
Maybe I'm just getting old, but I needed a fluffy puppy afterwards. Or at least a really good cup of tea.

Enmu: Creepy, But Kinda...Meh?
Don't get me wrong, Enmu is nightmare fuel. His powers are disturbing. His voice makes my skin crawl.
But as a villain? He felt a little... underdeveloped. More of a plot device than a truly compelling antagonist.
He felt like a stepping stone to something bigger. Which, I guess, is fair. But still. More meat on those villainous bones, please!
It's Still Good! I Promise!
Despite my gripes, Mugen Train is a fun watch. The action is top-notch. The emotional moments hit hard.

The animation is breathtaking. You can see the dedication that Ufotable poured into every frame. Every. Single. Frame.
And even if Rengoku's inspiration felt a tad overdone, his final stand was undeniably epic.
So, Final Verdict?
It's a good movie. A really good movie. Just maybe not the best movie ever made, as some would have you believe.
Maybe the hype just inflated expectations. Maybe I’m just a cynical old grump. Who knows?

But hey, at least we got some fantastic memes out of it. "UMAI!" forever, right?
Plus, it reminded me to appreciate sweet potatoes. So, thanks, Rengoku. You slightly-over-the-top-but-still-awesome dude.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go rewatch it. And maybe cry a little. Don't judge.
Just kidding! (Maybe).
