Kagura Inuyasha The Movie: The Castle Beyond The Looking Glass

Okay, let's be real. We all have that one anime movie that everyone loves... except you. For me? It's Inuyasha The Movie: The Castle Beyond the Looking Glass.
Don't get me wrong, I love Inuyasha. The characters, the plot, even the filler episodes (sometimes). But this movie? It just doesn't quite hit the same way the others do.
Why the 'Castle Beyond the Meh'?
First off, Kagura. She's amazing, right? Fierce, independent, and secretly wants to be free from Naraku. But in this movie? She's kind of... just there.
Must Read
She barely gets any screen time. And when she does, she's mostly just following orders. We're robbed of her signature sass and scheming!
Then there's the villain, Menomaru. He's supposed to be this big, bad threat. A powerful demon with a vendetta. But he feels... bland.

Compare him to Naraku. Naraku is manipulative, cunning, and genuinely terrifying. Menomaru is just... angry. Angry and kind of forgettable.
The Plot Thickens (and Gets a Little Muddy)
The plot itself feels a bit convoluted. Something about a mirror, and a castle, and a bunch of resurrected demons. It's all a bit much.
The other movies have a clear, concise storyline. This one feels like they threw a bunch of ideas at the wall and hoped something would stick. Did it work?

Also, let's talk about the animation. Inuyasha isn't known for having the most cutting-edge animation, but the movie does have some moments of good action.
It feels like a step down from the series. Maybe it's just me, but the fight scenes feel less impactful and more... generic. The spells doesn't hit as hard!
The (Unpopular) Verdict
Look, I know I'm probably in the minority here. A lot of people seem to love The Castle Beyond the Looking Glass. They probably like the plot.

They see depth and complexity that I'm clearly missing. I respect that. Maybe.
But for me? It's the weakest of the Inuyasha movies. Kagura deserved better. The villain needed more personality. And the plot needed to be simpler.
Don't get me wrong, I'll still watch it if it's on. But I won't be rushing to add it to my "favorites" list. I'll probably make popcorn though!

It's just that compared to things like Affections Touching Across Time, it felt rather lackluster. Affections Touching Across Time had better humor, better villains, and stronger character development.
So, am I wrong? Am I missing something? Let me know in the comments! But be gentle. Remember, this is just my (possibly misguided) opinion.
And hey, at least it's still Inuyasha, right? So even if it's not the best, it's still pretty darn good.
