Okay, let's talk about something important. Super important, actually. It's been on my mind for ages.

Food Wars: Third Season… The Unpopular Opinion

Is there a third season of Food Wars!? I'm ready to stir the pot a bit here. I know some of you love seasons four and five. But are they really a third season?

Hear me out. I’m not saying those seasons don't exist. They clearly do. You can watch them on streaming services right now. But I feel like...something is off.

The Disconnect

Remember the hype? The intense cooking battles? Soma's never-give-up attitude? It felt like magic. Like actual edible magic, you could almost taste it.

Then…things changed. The story got a bit... weird. Villains with food powers? Suddenly, it felt less like a cooking anime. More like a superhero show. With knives.

Don't get me wrong, superpowers are fun. But were they right for Food Wars!? Did we really need them? I'm not so sure.

Where's the Heart?

The earlier seasons felt relatable. We saw characters struggling. They experimented with recipes. They learned from failures.

It felt like a genuine journey. A journey of culinary discovery. It was about friendship, rivalry, and the sheer joy of cooking.

Did that feeling stick around? Or did it get lost in the sauce? Maybe just a little bit (or a lot).

My Radical Suggestion

So, here's my crazy, controversial idea. Let's pretend seasons four and five are a fun alternate universe story. A what-if scenario.

Imagine it! Soma faces off against super-powered chefs. It's a wild ride. We can enjoy it for what it is.

But what if we call it something else? Spin-off series maybe? That way, the original Food Wars! narrative remains untouched.

The "Real" Third Season?

Now, let's picture a real third season. One that captures the magic of the first two. Soma faces new challenges. He develops his skills further.

Maybe he travels the world. He learns from different cultures. He creates even more amazing dishes.

And most importantly, he stays true to himself. That's the Soma we all know and love.

A Matter of Taste

I know, I know. This is just my opinion. Some of you might disagree. You might love seasons four and five. That's perfectly fine!

Food, like anime, is subjective. What tastes good to one person might not to another. But I hope you can see where I'm coming from.

Maybe this is just my way of coping. Coping with the fact that the Food Wars! I loved changed. Maybe it's time for a rewatch of season one. And two. Just to remind myself of the good old days.

So, is there a third season of Food Wars!? In my heart, maybe not in the way you think.

Maybe it's just wishful thinking. Hoping for a return to the roots. But hey, a guy can dream, right?
