Is There A Second Season Of Kaguya Sama

Okay, let's talk about Kaguya-sama: Love Is War. Specifically, let's talk about… Season Two. Or, as I like to call it: The Season That Doesn't Exist.
Wait, What?! Season Two Exists!
Before you grab your pitchforks, hear me out! I know, I know. Season Two, officially titled Kaguya-sama: Love Is War?, aired. It's got some banger openings and hilarious moments. But, BUT, I'm going to die on this hill.
I have a very unpopular opinion. It's one that might get me canceled in anime circles. Are you ready? Season Two isn't… as good.
Must Read
Blasphemy! Explain Yourself!
The first season was lightning in a bottle. The perfect blend of wit, romance, and those absolutely bonkers internal monologues. Each episode was a masterpiece of comedic timing and character development.
Season Two felt…different. A bit rushed, maybe? Like they were trying too hard to recapture the magic. Don't get me wrong, there were some amazing scenes. But the overall spark? Dimmed.

Think about it. Remember the ramen episode from Season One? Pure gold! Each interaction was layered with hilarious misunderstandings. Can you name an episode from Season Two that hits quite the same way?
Of course, maybe it's me. Maybe my expectations were sky-high after the first season. Maybe I was just having a bad anime-watching year. But I swear something was off.
The Characters Felt… Off?
Even the characters, bless their hearts, felt a little… flanderized. Kaguya and Shirogane got locked into their tsundere tendencies. They were less nuanced and more like caricatures.

And don't even get me started on Chika. Season One Chika was chaotic neutral. Season Two Chika felt like she'd mainlined pure sugar and was permanently stuck on hyperdrive. Less funny, more grating.
Okay, okay, that's harsh. But you get my point. The subtlety was gone, replaced with over-the-top antics. The magic of the original formula faded away slightly.

Like they say don't fix it if it ain't broken, and Season One was nowhere near broken. Season Two felt like they tried to fix it anyway.
Is It Still Worth Watching?
Absolutely! Even a "not as good" season of Kaguya-sama is still pretty darn good. It's got laughs, heartwarming moments, and plenty of those iconic reaction faces. Just don't expect the same level of perfection as the first season.
Season Three really ramped it up again. It's great and worth watching after Season Two, if you feel like it.

Maybe, just maybe, if we all collectively agree that Season Two was just a weird dream, we can pretend it never happened. We can bask in the glory of Season One and the later seasons and live happily ever after.
Or, you know, you can completely disagree with me. That's fine too. Just don't send hate mail. I'm just a humble anime watcher with a controversial opinion.
But hey, at least we can all agree that the theme songs are bangers, right?
So, is there a Season Two? Technically, yes. In my heart? It remains a mythical anomaly. Let the debate begin!
