Is Season 12 The Last Season Of Blue Bloods

Okay, let's talk Blue Bloods. Season 12 just wrapped up. But is it really the end of the Reagan family dinners? I've got a slightly unpopular opinion brewing.
I'm kind of hoping it is the last season. Hear me out before you grab your pitchforks! Maybe it's time to let the Reagans retire to their fictional Staten Island brownstone.
A Case of the Cop Show Blues
Look, I love a good cop show. Tom Selleck's mustache alone deserves an Emmy. But even the best shows can get a little…predictable, right?
Must Read
The cases start feeling same-y. The family drama becomes repetitive. We've seen Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) lose his cool approximately 10,000 times. It's endearing, but predictable.
And let's be honest, how many times can they argue about the "right" way to do things at Sunday dinner? I think the Reagans might secretly enjoy those arguments.

The Argument for Ending on a High Note
Imagine Blue Bloods going out with a bang. A truly memorable case, maybe even a series finale wedding! Wouldn't that be more satisfying than a slow decline?
Think about Seinfeld. They ended before everyone got completely sick of them. Breaking Bad knew when to quit. Leave them wanting more, folks!
Instead of seeing the show become a shadow of its former self. It's better to have loved and lost, than to have loved and had a show run for 20 seasons, right?

But What About the Characters?!
I get it. We're invested in these characters. We've seen Jamie (Will Estes) and Eddie (Vanessa Ray) fall in love. We’ve watched Erin (Bridget Moynahan) navigate the DA's office.
What will we do without Frank Reagan's wise words and unwavering moral compass? We might have to find a real life mentor.
But think of it this way: wouldn’t it be cool to imagine what happens to them after the cameras stop rolling? Let us fill in the blanks ourselves.

The Unpopular Opinion, Out Loud
My (probably unpopular) opinion? Season 12 felt like a good stopping point. The storylines were tied up nicely. The family was, more or less, at peace.
Maybe it's time for the actors to pursue new projects. Maybe it's time for us, the viewers, to find a new Sunday night tradition. Gasp!
Okay, okay, I know. I’ll probably still watch Season 13 if it happens. But secretly, I'll be wishing they'd gone out on top.

Just Think of the Legacy!
Imagine Blue Bloods being remembered as a consistently good show. A show that knew when to say goodbye. A show that didn't overstay its welcome.
That's a pretty good legacy, right? It's better than becoming a show that people watch out of habit, not enjoyment.
So, CBS, please consider my humble plea. Let the Reagans ride off into the sunset. Give us a great finale, and then…fade to black.
It's the right thing to do!
