In Another World With My Smartphone Eng Dub

Okay, let's talk about something a little controversial. Something involving isekai, smartphones, and… English dubs.
I'm talking about In Another World With My Smartphone. And, gulp, its English dub.
The Isekai Elephant in the Room
Look, I get it. Isekai is everywhere. Sometimes it feels like every other anime is about some dude (or dudette) getting transported to a fantasy world. Usually with overpowered abilities.
Must Read
And yeah, Smartphone is definitely... a classic example. It's got all the tropes: kind protagonist, beautiful girls, a magical world with monsters. You know, the usual.
So, What's the Big Deal with the Dub?
This is where it gets spicy. Many anime fans are… particular about their dubs. Some avoid them like the plague!
They prefer the original Japanese with subtitles. They want the "authentic" experience. And that's totally valid!

But here's my unpopular opinion: the Smartphone dub? It's actually… kinda fun.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying it's Shakespeare. I'm not arguing it's a masterpiece of voice acting. But it's enjoyable!
Why I Secretly Enjoy the Dub (Shhh!)
Firstly, it's just easy to watch. Sometimes, after a long day, I don't want to read subtitles. I just want to turn my brain off. And enjoy some mindless fun.
The dub lets me do that. I can follow the story without having to constantly focus on the bottom of the screen.

Secondly, the voice acting isn’t bad. It's not going to win any awards. But the actors clearly put effort into their roles.
There’s a certain… charm to it. A slight campiness that actually fits the tone of the show. It almost enhances the ridiculousness, in a good way.
Thirdly, and this is important, the dub knows what it is. Smartphone itself isn't trying to be high art. It's lighthearted entertainment.
The dub embraces that. It doesn't take itself too seriously. It's in on the joke.

Hear Me Out!
I know, I know. Some of you are probably rolling your eyes right now. You're thinking, "This person has terrible taste!"
And that's okay! We can disagree. I respect your opinion. But before you completely dismiss it, give the dub a try.
Maybe you’ll hate it. Maybe you’ll think I’m crazy. But maybe, just maybe, you’ll find some guilty pleasure in it too.
After all, anime is about enjoyment! So why not try something new? Even if it's a slightly cheesy, smartphone-filled isekai with a (gasp!) dub?

Ultimately, It's About Having Fun
Look, at the end of the day, it's all about personal preference. If you love subs, stick with them. If you despise dubs, that’s your call.
But don't knock the In Another World With My Smartphone English dub until you’ve tried it. You might be surprised.
Or you might not. But hey, at least you gave it a shot. And maybe, just maybe, you'll understand why I secretly enjoy it. Even if it’s just a little bit.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I'm going to go watch more Smartphone. In English. Don't judge!
It’s my guilty pleasure!
