I Want To Eat Your Pancreas Blu Ray

Okay, hear me out. I just got the I Want to Eat Your Pancreas Blu-ray.
Yes, that's the real title. It’s… memorable, to say the least.
Blu-ray Thoughts
The picture quality is crisp! You can really see all the details. Like, really see the details in the cherry blossoms.
Must Read
And the colors! So vibrant! It’s almost too vibrant sometimes.
The Sound
The audio is great. The voice acting is clear. You won't miss a single mumbled line from Haruki Shiga.
But here's my completely-possibly-sacrilegious thought: the music is a bit much. It's a constant stream of emotion.
Like, I get it, things are sad. The soundtrack doesn't need to remind me every two seconds!

My Unpopular Opinion
Ready for my unpopular opinion? I Want to Eat Your Pancreas is... fine.
Gasp! I know! People love this movie.
They cry buckets! They declare it a masterpiece! Me? I politely dab my eyes and think, "That was... a movie."
The premise is interesting, I'll give it that. A guy finds a diary. Said diary belongs to a girl with a terminal illness. It is all very poignant.
But the execution? Something just didn't click with me. Maybe I'm dead inside.

Maybe my pancreas is already gone. Who knows?
The Characters
The characters are likable enough. Sakura Yamauchi is bubbly and determined. Our unnamed protagonist, Haruki, is... well, he's there.
He's your typical aloof teenager. It's not a bad thing, it's just a thing.
But their relationship felt a little... rushed? Like they went from acquaintances to soulmates in about five minutes.

Is it Worth Buying?
So, is the Blu-ray worth buying? That depends.
If you're already a huge fan, absolutely! The improved audio and video are definitely a plus.
You can ugly-cry in stunning high definition! What’s not to love?
If you're on the fence about the movie itself... maybe rent it first? See if it punches you in the emotional gut like it did everyone else.
If it does, then go ahead and buy the Blu-ray. You'll want to experience that pain over and over again.

Me? I'll probably just watch something a little less... pancreatic. Maybe a nice, lighthearted zombie flick.
Final Verdict
It’s pretty, it’s sad, it’s… there. The Blu-ray is a good quality version of a movie I found okay.
I give the I Want to Eat Your Pancreas Blu-ray a solid "meh." But hey, at least my shelf looks pretty now.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go eat some actual pancreas. Just kidding! (Mostly.)
Maybe I just wanted to be edgy and disagree with the masses.
Don't judge me!
