I Ll Go To You When The Weather Is Nice

Okay, confession time. We need to talk about I'll Go To You When The Weather Is Nice. Or, as some of us secretly think, "I'll Go To You... Eventually, Maybe?"
Hear me out! I know it's beloved. I get it, the cinematography is gorgeous.
The Great Weather Debate
It's practically a character in the show, right? The weather is perfect!
Must Read
But here's my unpopular opinion. Maybe... just maybe... all that nice weather is a little too nice?
I mean, come on! Does it ever rain in Bookhyun Village?
Sunny Days, Sunny Problems?
Don't get me wrong, I love sunshine. I crave it. But a little dramatic downpour now and then wouldn't hurt.
Think about it. A good, angsty rainy scene? Perfect for a swoon-worthy moment between Hae-won and Eun-seob.
Instead, it's perpetually golden hour. Everyone is always bathed in the prettiest light.

Are they even facing real problems? Can we relate to them?
The Slow Burn... Or Just Slow?
Let's be honest. I'll Go To You When The Weather Is Nice is a slow burn. Like, glacial slow.
Some call it "contemplative." I call it "a little sleepy." Am I the only one?
It takes them like, 8 episodes to even acknowledge each other! That’s too long!
Subtle is Good, But...
I appreciate subtle storytelling. I truly do. But sometimes, I just want someone to say what they're feeling!

All those longing stares and meaningful silences? My attention span just isn't built for it.
Give me a good dramatic confession scene any day! Preferably in the rain, obviously.
The Second Lead Syndrome Struggle
Okay, the second lead. We all know him, we all feel bad for him.
In this case, it's Jang Woo. Poor guy. He is hopelessly in love and gets nowhere.
But his unrequited love kinda fizzled out because the main couple took forever to realize they like each other.

A Missed Opportunity?
I feel like Jang Woo deserved a better storyline. He deserved a plot twist.
Maybe he actually wins in the end? That'd be wild. Now that's a story I would watch!
Or, he could finally confess in the rain! I sound like a broken record, I know.
Final Thoughts (and a Plea for Rain)
Look, I'll Go To You When The Weather Is Nice is a beautiful drama. I will admit that.
The acting is great, the scenery is stunning, and the overall vibe is cozy. It is a very well-done drama.

But maybe it's too perfect? It lacks some drama. It could use some spice.
So, to all the K-drama writers out there: please, give us some rain! Give us some angst! Give us some second lead victories!
And maybe, just maybe, I'll be a little more enthusiastic about watching dramas set in perfectly sunny villages.
Until then, I'll be waiting for the storm. Preferably a metaphorical one, but a real one wouldn't hurt either.
I secretly like Crash Landing on You better. Don't tell anyone!
