I Like Attention More Attention Attention Now Please

Okay, let's be honest. I have a confession. I like attention.
There, I said it. It feels good to get that off my chest. Anyone else feel the same way?
Attention, Please! (It's Me)
Don't get me wrong. I'm not talking about craving the spotlight 24/7. That sounds exhausting.

But a little bit of validation? A sprinkle of appreciation? Absolutely! Sign me up!
The Siren Song of the Like Button
We all do it, right? Post a picture. Casually check the likes every five minutes. It's a digital drug!
That little red notification? Pure dopamine. Even if it's just my aunt Edna liking my breakfast photo.
And let's not forget the comments! "Looking great!" "So cute!" My ego swells like a soufflé.

I know, I know. We shouldn't rely on external validation. Inner peace and all that.
But come on. It's nice to be noticed! Especially when you've spent ages perfecting that selfie angle.
More, More, More! (Just Kidding… Mostly)
I'm not saying I need a ticker-tape parade every time I make a decent cup of coffee. But a compliment? I wouldn't say no.
A simple "Hey, that's a nice shirt!" can make my day. Seriously. It's the little things, you know?

Maybe it's a personality flaw. Maybe I'm secretly a narcissist. (Don't tell my therapist!)
But I think it's just human nature. We crave connection. We want to feel seen.
And honestly, sometimes I just want someone to laugh at my jokes. Even the really bad ones.
The Downside of the Spotlight
Of course, there's a dark side to the attention game. Too much scrutiny can be suffocating.
Nobody wants to be constantly judged. Or have their every move analyzed by the internet.

Remember Monica Lewinsky? Case closed. No one wants that level of attention.
So, a healthy balance is key. A dash of appreciation, a pinch of recognition, and a whole lot of self-acceptance.
A Call to Attention! (For You)
So, here's my proposal. Let's all give each other a little more attention. Compliment a stranger's shoes.
Tell your friend their hair looks nice. Actually listen when someone is talking. (Novel concept, I know).

A little bit of kindness can go a long way. And who knows? You might even get some attention in return.
Because, let's face it, we all secretly want it. Even if we won't admit it out loud.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go refresh my Instagram feed. Just to see if anyone noticed my new profile picture.
Seriously though. I put a lot of effort into that. A like would be appreciated. Just saying.
