I Don't Want To Share My Location On Iphone

My iPhone asks me to share my location. Again. And again. I tap "Ask Not to Share." Every. Single. Time.
Am I the only one who feels this way? Location sharing. It's a digital third wheel. Constantly lurking.
The Perpetual GPS Ping
Seriously, it feels like a digital chaperone. Always there, watching where I'm going. What I'm doing.
Must Read
Maybe I want to get lost. Is that so wrong? A little digital detox, fueled by questionable directions.
And those apps! They practically beg for your location. "For a better experience!" Right. A better experience for them.
The "Better Experience" Myth
I understand the convenience. Find nearby restaurants. Get accurate directions.
But sometimes, convenience comes at a price. The price of my digital privacy, perhaps.
Do I really need to let my grocery store know I'm browsing avocados? I think not.
The Unpopular Opinion Express
I know, I know. I'm probably in the minority here. Everyone's sharing their location.

Tracking kids. Coordinating meetups. Finding lost phones. The use cases are endless.
But still, a part of me rebels. A tiny, digital rebel, clinging to a shred of privacy.
Location Sharing Peer Pressure
My friends sometimes look at me funny. "Why don't you share your location?" they ask.
"So we know you're safe!" they exclaim. As if safety is directly proportional to GPS coordinates.
I usually mumble something about battery life. A convenient, semi-truthful excuse.
The Battery Drain Blues
Speaking of battery life! Let's be honest. Constant location tracking is a power hog.

My phone already struggles to make it through the day. I don't need to add fuel to the fire.
So, in a way, I'm also doing it for practical reasons. Selfish, practical reasons, perhaps.
A Little Bit of Control
Maybe it's a control thing. I like knowing that I decide who knows where I am.
Not some algorithm. Not some app. Just me and my (hopefully) sound judgment.
Is that so unreasonable? A little digital autonomy in a hyper-connected world?
Finding the Middle Ground
Okay, okay. I'm not a complete Luddite. I do share my location... sometimes.

For example, with my family on road trips. It's reassuring to know everyone's on the same page.
But that's a conscious decision. A specific instance. Not a blanket permission slip.
Selective Sharing Strategies
I've learned to be selective. Granting location access only when absolutely necessary.
Revoking permissions after use. Regularly checking my privacy settings.
It's a constant battle. But a battle worth fighting, in my opinion. For a little peace of mind.
The Future of Location Sharing
Who knows what the future holds? Maybe location sharing will become even more ubiquitous.

Maybe we'll all be tracked 24/7, willingly or not. A scary thought, indeed.
But until then, I'll keep tapping "Ask Not to Share." A small act of rebellion in a world of constant surveillance.
Embrace the Ask Not to Share!
So, if you're like me. If you value your privacy. If you just want to be left alone.
Don't be afraid to say no. Don't be afraid to tap that button. "Ask Not to Share."
You're not alone! There are dozens of us! Dozens!
And if my phone asks me to share my location one more time today, I might just throw it out the window.
