I Changed My Apple Id And Can't Update Apps

Okay, so I did a thing. A big thing. I changed my Apple ID. Don't ask why. Just know, things haven't been smooth sailing since.
Specifically, app updates. They haunt me now. Little red bubbles mocking my very existence.
The Update Apocalypse
Suddenly, every app needs updating. Fine, I thought. This is normal, right?
Must Read
Wrong. So wrong. Each tap of the "Update" button felt like hitting a brick wall. An error message pops up instead. A cruel, digital laugh in my face.
It asks for the password for my old Apple ID. The one I banished to the digital wasteland. The one I thought I was rid of!
Seriously, Apple, are you messing with me? It's like you're saying, "Oh, you changed your identity? Prove it by remembering your past life."
The Password Predicament
Of course, I don't remember the old password. Do you remember every password you've ever had?

I’ve tried every variation I can think of. Birthday? Pet's name? Favorite pizza topping? Nope, nope, and triple nope.
I’m starting to think I made up a password in some weird dream I once had. Now my phone wants to access that dream, and I can't deliver.
My Unpopular Opinion (Brace Yourselves)
And here's where I might lose some of you. But I have to say it: Maybe apps don’t need to be updated every five minutes.
I know, I know. Security vulnerabilities. Bug fixes. Shiny new features. But honestly, my apps were working just fine before this update obsession began.

Sometimes, I feel like these updates are just a ploy to make my phone slower and drain my battery faster. Conspiracy theory? Maybe. But I’m sticking to it.
Is Candy Crush really improved that much? Did my banking app suddenly become exponentially more secure? I doubt it.
Living in the Update-Free Zone (Almost)
So, for now, I'm living in a semi-updated app world. Some apps work. Some are stuck in a perpetual state of needing-but-not-getting updates.
It's a bit like living in the past. A slightly glitchy, sometimes-slow past. But hey, at least I’m not constantly being bombarded with update requests. Small victories, people.

I did eventually manage to update some by deleting and reinstalling them. A drastic measure, I know. It felt like performing surgery on my phone.
The Lingering Question
The whole ordeal begs the question: Why is this so complicated? Shouldn’t changing my Apple ID be a clean break?
Shouldn’t my phone understand that I'm a new person now? A reformed digital citizen with a brand-new identity?
Apparently not. The ghosts of my old Apple ID still linger, haunting my app updates and reminding me of my past digital sins.

So, if you see me wandering around with outdated apps, please don't judge. Just know that I made a choice. A somewhat questionable choice. But a choice nonetheless.
And maybe, just maybe, I'm onto something. Maybe we don't need all these updates. Maybe we can all just slow down and enjoy our apps as they are.
Okay, probably not. But a girl can dream, right?
