The App-titude Test

First, download the Disney Plus app on your phone. Obvious? Maybe. But let's cover all the bases. We've all forgotten something obvious before.

Now, turn on your TV and navigate to the Disney Plus app. Hopefully, it's already there. If not, time to rummage through the app store!

Look for the "Sign In" button. Seems easy enough, doesn’t it? Prepare yourself.

The QR Code Quandary

A QR code pops up. Ah, technology! We're supposed to scan it. With our phone, remember?

Open the Disney Plus app on your phone. Hopefully, it has a built-in QR code scanner. If not, welcome to downloading another app. Fun!

Point your phone at the TV screen. Wiggle it around a bit. Make sure the lighting is good. This is all very scientific, of course.

Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. I think it secretly enjoys messing with us.

The Code Entry Calamity

If the QR code fails (and it often does, in my experience), there's usually a code. A six-digit, alphanumeric code. Which you have to painstakingly enter using your TV remote.

Click. Click. Click. Scroll. Click. Ugh. Remember needing this kind of patience for anything else?

Enter the code on the TV. Double-check it. Triple-check it. Because one wrong character and you're back to square one. More clicking!

The Unpopular Opinion

Here's my unpopular opinion: Why can't I just type in my email and password? Like a normal human being? Is that too much to ask, Disney?

Seriously, this whole QR code/activation code dance feels unnecessarily complicated. I feel like I'm defusing a bomb sometimes. Or trying to assemble Ikea furniture blindfolded.

I suspect this is all designed to make things "easier". I think easier is in the eye of the beholder.

And don't even get me started on when you have multiple accounts and forget which one is linked to which device. It's a whole other level of frustration!

I have spent longer trying to log into Disney Plus than I have actually watching Disney Plus sometimes.

I start questioning all my life choices. Did I really need to watch that episode of Bluey that badly? (The answer is always yes, by the way).

But eventually, hopefully, you're in. You're logged in. The sweet, sweet relief washes over you.

Despite all this, I admit the shows are pretty great. I guess that's why we put ourselves through this digital obstacle course in the first place.
