How To Mark Shows As Watched On Youtube Tv

Okay, let's talk YouTube TV. We all love it, right? (Please say yes, I just canceled cable for this).
But there's a teeny, tiny, itsy-bitsy problem. A first-world problem of the highest order. You can't just easily mark shows as watched.
The Great YouTube TV Watched-Show Caper
I know, I know. Some of you are thinking, "Who cares?" You probably neatly organize your sock drawer too.
Must Read
But hear me out. I like knowing what I’ve already binged. It’s a mental checklist, a badge of honor, a signal to my brain: "Move on, there's more TV to conquer!"
The Never-Ending Scroll of Doom
Instead, we're stuck scrolling through an endless list of suggested shows. Did I watch that episode of Nailed It!? Hmm, maybe? Let's just watch it again to be sure.
Then I get yelled at because I already saw it last week. It’s a vicious cycle, really.

This leads to what I like to call "The Accidental Rewatch." You start an episode, vaguely remember it, then BAM! Suddenly, you're three seasons deep, questioning your life choices.
Seriously, I've re-watched entire seasons of Great British Baking Show. This is not a complaint, but a confession!
My Wildly Unpopular Opinion
I'm going to say it. The algorithm? It's mocking me. It knows I'm forgetful.
It probably laughs behind its digital hand as I click "play" on the same House Hunters episode for the fifth time. "Ha! Got her again!"

And don't even get me started on the recordings. It's like a digital hoard. A museum of television.
The "Solutions" (And Why They Don't Work)
Okay, okay, there are “workarounds.” We've all heard them. You can delete the recording, of course.
But what if I might want to watch it again someday? What if future me is nostalgic for that particular episode of Property Brothers?
Deleting feels so…permanent. Like throwing away a memory. A slightly blurry, poorly lit memory, but a memory nonetheless.

The Thumb Trick
Then there's the "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" trick. Tell YouTube TV what you liked and disliked.
This kind of helps. But it's not the same. It's like telling someone you ate the whole pizza without showing them the empty box. Proof, people, proof!
And let's be honest, half the time I forget to rate the episode. I'm too busy reaching for the remote or falling asleep.
The Hopeful Future
So, dear YouTube TV overlords, hear my plea! Give us a simple "Mark as Watched" button.

A little checkmark. A digital pat on the back. A way to say, "I conquered this episode, now bring on the next one!"
Until then, I guess I'll keep accidentally re-watching The Office. Not that I'm complaining...too much.
Maybe I should just start keeping a spreadsheet. Or a journal. Or hire someone to track my viewing habits. Okay, maybe that's a bit extreme.
But seriously, YouTube TV, please? Pretty please? With sugar on top?
