How To Make App Store Stop Asking For Password

Okay, Let's Talk About THAT App Store Password...
Seriously, does anyone else think the App Store asks for your password way too much? It's like, I just downloaded TikTok yesterday, do I really need to prove I'm me again to get Candy Crush? I think not.
Alright, let's dive into the (slightly annoying) world of password prompts. We're going to try something, and hopefully, it'll make our lives a little less... password-y.
First Up: The Settings Dive
Head over to your phone's Settings. You know, the place where all the magic happens (and where you accidentally turn on airplane mode at the worst possible time).
Must Read
Scroll down, down, down until you find "Face ID & Passcode" (or Touch ID, if you're rocking an older model). Tap it. Prepare for the feels as you remember your passcode... or fail miserably trying to remember it.
You might see something that says "iTunes & App Store" - flip that switch! Hopefully that will stop the constant barrage of requests!
The Media & Purchases Option
Now, let's try another approach. Go back to the main Settings screen.

Tap on your name at the very top. Yes, the one that reminds you of that awkward email address you made in middle school.
Find "Media & Purchases" and tap that. A little pop-up may appear. Choose "Password Settings".
See that section called "Free Downloads"? See that button that says "Require Password"? Disable it. Boom. (Hopefully.)

Checking your iCloud Account
Still getting asked for your password? Okay, let’s delve a little deeper. Go back to your main settings page, tap your name, and then tap iCloud.
Make sure you are logged in and that your iCloud account is properly configured. Sometimes, hiccups in iCloud land can cause password-related weirdness.
Password Prompt, Be Gone!
Okay, now comes the potentially controversial part: Turning off password requirements altogether. I know, I know. Security experts are probably clutching their pearls right now.

But honestly, sometimes convenience wins. If you're the only one using your device and you trust your apps, this might be the way to go.
Go back to "Media & Purchases" then "Password Settings". You should see a toggle to turn off "Require Password." Turn it off!
The Last Resort (Maybe)
If none of that worked, then you may want to sign out of your Apple ID and sign back in. I know, it's annoying. But sometimes, a fresh start is all you need.

Again, this is found by tapping your name at the top of settings and then scrolling all the way down to "Sign Out". Enter your password to turn off "Find My" (this is required to sign out). Then sign back in!
Is It Just Me?
Seriously though, does anyone else think the App Store password thing is a bit much? I get security, I really do. But I feel like I'm proving my identity to my phone more often than I prove it to my bank.
Let me know if any of these worked for you! Or if you have any other secret tips. Because at this point, I'm willing to try anything to avoid typing my password one more time today.
Good luck, and may your App Store experiences be password-prompt-free (or at least, a little less password-y).
