How To Get To The Snowy Area Elden Ring

Alright, gather 'round, fellow Tarnished! You wanna ditch the golden fields and head up to the frosty peaks of the Mountaintops of the Giants in Elden Ring? Smart move. I mean, who doesn't want to fight snow zombies while their teeth chatter like a tap-dancing skeleton? But let's be honest, getting there can be a tad… confusing. Think of it as trying to assemble IKEA furniture after drinking a whole pot of coffee – manageable, but with a high probability of yelling at inanimate objects.
Fear not! Your friendly neighborhood guide is here to break it down. We're going to skip the boring lore-dump and jump straight into the 'how-to,' because let’s face it, you're probably reading this while being chased by a giant lobster. Let's roll!
Step 1: Become Elden Lord (or at least, look like you could)
Okay, so this is the biggie. You can’t just waltz into the snowy region like you're picking up groceries. The game wants you to earn it. And by "earn it," I mean beat two of the main bosses. Think of it as a really brutal entry fee.
Must Read
You'll need to become the Elden Lord in progress. This means defeating either:
- Godrick the Grafted (at Stormveil Castle – you know, the dude with all the arms. It's a hug you don’t want).
- Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon (at Raya Lucarian Academy – the one who throws books at you. Literary criticism taken to a whole new level).
… and then defeating at least one of the following Shardbearers:

- Radahn, Starscourge (in Caelid – a colossal warrior on a tiny horse. It's as hilarious as it is terrifying).
- Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy (at Volcano Manor – a giant snake-man. Because why not?).
- Morgott, the Omen King (beneath Leyndell – the final boss of the Royal Capital).
- Mohg, Lord of Blood (deep underground, accessible via a teleporter in the west of the Snowfield – a secret lord, who can bleed you from far).
Defeating two shardbearers, gives you the power to enter Leyndell, Royal Capital.
Why do you have to fight demigods? Because the game said so. And because it’s fun! (Relatively speaking. Dying repeatedly to a giant lobster is rarely "fun" in the traditional sense).

Step 2: Conquer Leyndell, Royal Capital
Right, you've got your two Great Runes. Time to head to Leyndell, the Royal Capital. This place is like Washington D.C., but with more dragons and significantly less political gridlock (though, honestly, I'm not sure which is worse). Navigate the city's… unique architecture (read: crumbling ruins guarded by angry knights) until you reach the Elden Throne. It's hard to miss, it's where all the important people like to hang out before getting their butts kicked.
There you'll face Godfrey, First Elden Lord (sort of). He's a bit of a grumpy grandpa with a golden axe. Beat him (or at least survive long enough to annoy him into submission), and then you'll need to defeat Morgott, the Omen King. He is, surprisingly, Godfrey's son. Don't expect a family reunion – just a brutal boss fight.
Once you defeat Morgott, he'll… well, let's just say he'll dramatically unlock the path forward. Think of it as a divine "open sesame."

Step 3: Ascend the Grand Lift of Rold
After your little chat with Morgott, head back into Leyndell, to the Avenue Balcony Site of Grace. This leads out to a very cool, very long bridge with, if you're lucky, two Tree Sentinels guarding it. These guys are a pain but are very optional! At the end of this long bridge you'll find the Forbidden Lands. This is, honestly, the least fun part. The path here is very linear but the enemies are tough, so mount up and try to gallop past them!
At the end of the Forbidden Lands is the Grand Lift of Rold. This is your express ticket to the Mountaintops of the Giants. Interact with it, and you'll trigger a (slightly-too-long) cutscene. And poof, you're transported to the snowy region! Congratulations! You’ve made it! Try not to freeze to death immediately.

Pro-Tip: Make sure you have the Rold Medallion. You get this key item from Melina after defeating Morgott. Without it, the lift will just stare at you blankly, like a grumpy security guard who hasn’t had his coffee.
Step 4: Embrace the Frostbite (and Maybe Upgrade Your Gear)
Welcome to the Mountaintops of the Giants! It's cold, the enemies are tougher, and the wind howls like a banshee with a sore throat. But hey, at least the scenery is pretty! Take some time to explore (carefully), upgrade your gear, and maybe invest in some warm clothing. Trust me, frostbite is not a good look.
And that's it! You've braved the challenges, conquered the bosses, and navigated the confusing pathways of Elden Ring to reach the snowy area. Now go forth, Tarnished, and become the Elden Lord… or at least survive long enough to tell your friends about it. Good luck, you'll need it!
