How To Get To Shadowlands In Dragonflight

Hey there, fellow adventurer! So, you're ready to ditch the Dragon Isles for a bit and take a trip down memory lane (or, you know, the River of Souls) to the Shadowlands? Awesome! Maybe you forgot where you parked your soul, or perhaps you just miss hanging out with the Kyrian. Whatever the reason, getting back to the afterlife isn’t as spooky as it sounds. Let's break it down in a super simple way.
Step 1: The Call of the… Well, Not-So-Wild
First things first, you need to make sure you've actually completed the Shadowlands intro questline on at least one character. I know, I know, some of us cough me cough just want to skip straight to the fun stuff. But Blizzard wants to make sure you've at least said "hi" to Bolvar Fordragon before letting you jump back into the afterlife.
If you haven’t, you'll need to head to Stormwind Keep (for Alliance) or Orgrimmar (for Horde). Keep an eye out for a quest called "A Death Knell." It will lead you down the path of the Maw introduction. Yes, the Maw. Don’t worry, it gets better... eventually!
Must Read
Pro Tip: If you're a veteran player and you’ve already done all this on another character, you can talk to Chromie in Orgrimmar or Stormwind to choose the Shadowlands timeline for leveling. This will start you right where you need to be. Though be warned, Chromie Time does have a level cap!
Step 2: Oribos, Here We Come (Again!)
Okay, so you've either finished the intro quests, or you're a seasoned Shadowlands veteran ready for a return trip. Now what? The easiest way to get back to Oribos (that's the, uh, central hub of the Shadowlands. Think interdimensional bus station, but with more existential dread) is through a portal.

Alliance players will find a portal to Oribos in Stormwind's portal room. It's located in the mage tower, so polish your teleportation skills (or just run in... either works).
Horde players, your portal awaits in Orgrimmar's portal room, found in the Cleft of Shadow. Just avoid falling into any shadowy crevices on your way!
Important: Make sure you're in your capital city! Don't go wandering around the Dragon Isles expecting to find a magical gateway to the afterlife. That's just… bad planning.

Step 3: Enjoy Your Afterlife (Sort Of)
Once you step through the portal, BAM! You're in Oribos! You can now wander around, reminisce about your adventures in the Covenants, or maybe even pick up some old transmog gear (because let's face it, some of those Shadowlands sets were chef's kiss).
From Oribos, you can take portals to the various zones of the Shadowlands: Bastion, Maldraxxus, Ardenweald, and Revendreth. Each zone has its own unique vibe, so feel free to explore and see what tickles your fancy... or your funny bone. Maldraxxus is my personal favorite. Skeletons in spiky armor? What's not to love?

Seriously Important Note: While you’re in Oribos, be mindful of your surroundings. The brokers tend to have sticky fingers and could pickpocket some of your gold. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
Step 4: The Great Vault
You might want to visit the Great Vault in Oribos. You might have some old rewards from your previous activities in Shadowlands. Just open it and find some treasures!
That's All, Folks!
And there you have it! Getting to the Shadowlands in Dragonflight is pretty straightforward. No convoluted rituals or sacrificing your firstborn required. Just a simple portal trip and you're on your way to spectral adventures. So, go forth, explore the afterlife, and remember... death is just the beginning (of another expansion, anyway!). Have fun!
