How To Get Closed Caption On Disney Plus

Okay, let's talk Disney+. We all love it, right? Except when you can't understand what Mickey Mouse is saying because your toddler is using pots and pans as drums. (Unpopular opinion: pots and pans are NOT instruments before 8 AM.)
So, how do we get those magical words on the screen?
It's surprisingly simple. I mean, it should be simple, right? We're not trying to decipher ancient hieroglyphics here.
Starting Your Adventure
First, fire up your Disney+ app. Or, you know, go to the website on your computer. Whatever floats your streaming boat.
Must Read
Pick your show. Maybe some Bluey? (Another unpopular opinion: Bluey is for adults too. Don't judge me.)
Hit play. The moment of truth is about to begin. Let the captivating story begin... with silence!
The Elusive Settings Icon
Now, look for a little icon. It might look like a speech bubble. Or a gear. Or maybe something completely abstract. It depends on your device, doesn't it?
It's usually in the corner. Top right, bottom right, who knows? It plays hide-and-seek, apparently.

Click that mystery icon. That's where the magic really happens.
Caption Choices Galore! (Maybe)
A menu should pop up. Hopefully, "Captions" or "Subtitles" is an option. If not, well... maybe check your internet connection?
Select your language. English, Spanish, Klingon… Okay, maybe not Klingon. But hopefully something you can understand.
Turn the captions on. This is the crucial step. Don't skip it. I almost did. Twice.

Customize Your Viewing Pleasure
Sometimes, you can even change the font and size of the captions! Feeling fancy? Make them Comic Sans. (Okay, maybe don't. My eyes are already hurting from the blue light.)
Make them huge! Make them tiny! Do whatever makes you happy. It's your viewing experience after all.
This is where you become the master of your Disney+ domain.
What If It Doesn't Work?
Okay, so you followed all the steps. And… nothing. Still no captions. Don't panic! (Yet.)

First, try restarting the app. The classic "turn it off and on again" trick. It works more often than it should.
If that doesn't work, check your device settings. Sometimes, the problem isn't Disney+, it's you (or your device, anyway). Check for accessibility options and turn on closed captions there.
When All Else Fails…
If you're still stuck, there's always the Disney+ help center. Brace yourself. It's a journey. A long, winding journey.
Or, you could just yell louder at the TV. That sometimes works too. (Just kidding! ...Mostly.)

Seriously though, Disney+ has a help section. It is what it is.
The Joy of Captions
And there you have it! Now you can finally understand what those darn chipmunks are saying in Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers.
No more squinting and guessing. No more rewinding every five seconds. Just pure, unadulterated Disney+ bliss.
Enjoy your shows, and may your captions always be perfectly timed and impeccably clear!
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go watch The Simpsons with the captions on. (Unpopular opinion #3: You miss 70% of the jokes without them.)
