How To Create A Paypal Link For An Event
So, You Want People to Pay You? (Good Choice!)
Let's be honest. Chasing after people for money is the WORST. Especially for, like, a potluck or a gasp Bachelorette party!
I have an unpopular opinion: Venmo is chaos. Too many emojis. Too many "funny" descriptions. I need order! I need... Paypal.
First: The Basics (Duh)
You need a Paypal account. Shocking, I know. If you don't have one, create one. Business or personal, your call!

Then, log in. See? You're already halfway there.
Option 1: The "Pay Me Directly" Route
Okay, this is the super simple, lazy-person method. (My favorite, obviously.)
Find your Paypal.me link. It's usually somewhere in your profile settings.
It's probably something like Paypal.me/YourUsername. If you haven't set it up, DO IT! You can customize it a little.

Slap that link on your event invite. Done. "Please send your contribution to Paypal.me/PartyFund by [Date]." Boom.
Option 2: The "Request Money" Adventure
This is slightly more involved. Slightly. Don't panic.
Look for the "Request Money" option on your Paypal dashboard. It might be hiding, but it's there.
Enter the email addresses of the people you want to bleed dry! Just kidding! People attending your awesome event.

Add the amount you need from each person. Be specific! No one likes surprises (except birthday parties).
Include a little note. Something like "Party Contribution" or "My kids deserve new shoes!". (Okay, maybe not that last one).
Paypal will send them an email requesting the money. They click, they pay. Easy peasy.
Option 3: The "Create an Invoice" Power Move
Feeling fancy? Want to look like a legit business owner? (Even if you're just charging for pizza?)
Create an invoice. Seriously. It's not as scary as it sounds.

In your Paypal account, find the "Create Invoice" option. It's probably under "Tools" or "Selling."
Fill out the invoice with all the details. "Event Fee," "Pizza Contribution," "Emotional Support Surcharge"... you know, the usual.
Send the invoice to your attendees. They click, they pay. You look like a professional. Everyone wins!
Important Tidbits (aka Things I Wish I Knew Sooner)
Fees! Paypal charges fees. Factor those into your calculations, so you don't end up short.

Be clear about what the money is for. Avoid confusion. Avoid awkward conversations.
Set a deadline! Seriously. "Please pay by [Date]" is your best friend. It creates a sense of urgency! People procrastinate less. Maybe.
Follow up! Politely. A gentle reminder never hurt anyone. (Except maybe my inbox.)
Now go forth and collect your dues! May your event be fabulous, and your Paypal account overflowing!
Remember, being organized is key. Except maybe when it comes to my sock drawer. That's a lost cause.
Good luck!
