How Old Was Brad Pitt In Meet Joe Black

Let's talk about Meet Joe Black. You know, that movie where Brad Pitt plays Death? And eats peanut butter with a vacant stare? It's a classic, right?
But something's always bugged me. Something I haven't been able to shake for years.
The Age-Old Question (Pun Intended!)
How old was Brad Pitt in that movie? Officially, he was about 34. But does anyone else think he looked...older?
Must Read
I know, I know. He's Brad Pitt. He could probably pull off playing a teenager even now. But still...
Maybe it was the suit. Maybe it was the serious demeanor. Or maybe, just maybe, it was that slightly confused look he wore for most of the film.
Don't get me wrong. I love Brad Pitt. He's a fantastic actor.
My Unpopular Opinion: He Looked 40!
Here's where I might lose some of you. I think he looked closer to 40 in Meet Joe Black. There, I said it!

It’s that "wise beyond his years" vibe he had going on. Plus, playing Death probably ages a guy, right?
Think about it. He's hanging out with Anthony Hopkins, who plays his father figure. The age difference just didn't scream "34 and 60."
Of course, this is all subjective. Maybe I'm just projecting my own aging anxieties onto poor Brad Pitt.
But seriously, compare him to his role in Fight Club, which came out a year later. Huge difference!
In Fight Club, he's all lean muscle and mischievous energy. In Meet Joe Black, he's...well, he's Death. And possibly constipated.

The Power of Wardrobe (and Peanut Butter)
Let's be real, the wardrobe played a huge role. That dark suit and tie? Not exactly youthful.
Then there's the whole "being possessed by Death" thing. That couldn't have helped his skin look any younger.
And let's not forget the peanut butter. Is it just me, or does watching someone eat a huge spoonful of peanut butter make them look a little older?
Maybe it's the slightly strained expression. Or the desperate need for a glass of milk.
Whatever it is, that peanut butter scene is iconic. And, in my mind, it adds a few years to Brad Pitt's perceived age.

"Yes!"
Am I Alone in This?
So, am I the only one who thinks this? Am I living in a Meet Joe Black-induced delusion?
Or do others see it too? The subtle lines, the world-weary gaze, the overall "I've seen it all (because I'm Death)" aura.
Maybe it's just the lighting. Or the makeup. Or my own skewed perception of time.
But whatever the reason, I'm sticking to my story. Brad Pitt looked at least 40 in Meet Joe Black. And I’m okay with that.

He still looked great, obviously. He's Brad Pitt!
But let's be honest. He was rocking that distinguished, slightly older look. Own it, Brad!
So next time you watch Meet Joe Black, pay close attention. See if you agree with my controversial (yet entirely valid) observation.
And maybe, just maybe, bring a jar of peanut butter. You might see what I mean.
Let me know if you agree. Or if you think I'm completely insane. Either way, thanks for indulging my musings on the age of Brad Pitt.
