How Many Years Has Chicago Fire Been On Tv

Okay, let's talk about Chicago Fire. It's been around for... a while, hasn't it? I mean, longer than my last haircut, that's for sure.
So, just how many years are we talking? We're diving into TV history here, folks.
The Burning Question: How Long?!
Chicago Fire premiered on October 10, 2012. Do the math (or let me do it for you). That means it's been blazing on our screens for...
Must Read
Over a decade! Yes, over a decade of fires, romance, and questionable decisions made by firefighters. And honestly, I've watched most of it.
That's a Lot of Episodes
Think about all the things that have happened in that time. Royal weddings, awkward fashion trends, and entire seasons of other TV shows have come and gone.
And Chicago Fire is still there, fighting the good fight. Or at least, pretending to fight fires while mostly talking about their feelings.

It's comforting in a weird, predictable sort of way. Like a really reliable, slightly melodramatic friend.
My Unpopular Opinion
Okay, prepare yourselves. Here it comes: I think it’s gone on too long.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the show. But the storylines are starting to repeat. Is anyone else experiencing a serious case of deja-vu watching this show?

Like, didn't Severide almost die last season? And the season before that? Seems like a regular Tuesday for him.
Character Fatigue is Real
I love the characters, I really do. Chief Boden is the dad we all wish we had (minus the whole fire chief thing). But how many times can these people realistically be in danger?
At some point, you gotta wonder if they're secretly immortal. Or maybe they're just incredibly unlucky.
I’m starting to think the writers are just throwing darts at a board labeled "Ways to Almost Kill Kelly Severide."

Is It Time to Hang Up the Hose?
Maybe it's time to let these firefighters retire. Let them open a bar, write a memoir, or finally take that vacation they've been talking about for ten seasons.
I’d rather remember the glory days of Chicago Fire than watch it slowly fizzle out. Quality over quantity, am I right?
But hey, that's just my opinion. And you know what they say about opinions...

The Chicago Universe Continues
Of course, Chicago Fire spawned an entire universe of shows. Chicago P.D., Chicago Med, and even a brief appearance by Chicago Justice.
It's like a fire-fighting, crime-solving, doctoring hydra. Cut off one head (or show), and two more pop up.
It's a testament to the show's success, even if I think it's time for the original to take a breather. Or maybe I should just accept that Chicago Fire will be on TV forever. Like Dick Wolf is the real immortal one.
"Never say never" - Someone on Chicago Fire, probably.
So, there you have it. Chicago Fire has been on the air for a long time. Long enough to make me feel old and question the mortality of fictional firefighters. Now, if you excuse me, I’m going to go rewatch the first few seasons… for research purposes, of course.
