How Many Volumes Of Love Me Love Me Not

Okay, let's talk Love Me, Love Me Not. You know, that sweet shojo manga? The one with all the misunderstandings and cute friendships?
How Many Volumes Are We Really Talking About?
Officially? It's ten. Ten volumes of Akarin, Rio, and their tangled romantic webs. That's what the internet tells you, anyway. But is that really the full story?
Think about it. Ten volumes. Seems...short, right? For all the drama? For all the yearning glances across the classroom?
Must Read
My "Unpopular" Opinion (Brace Yourselves!)
I'm going to say it: it feels like it needed more. Yes, I said it! Maybe twelve volumes would have been the sweet spot.
Hear me out! Don't throw your manga at the screen. Rio, our resident charmer, deserves a little more development, am I right?
And Akarin! Bless her heart. She needed more time to truly shine on her own, not just be entangled in the romance.

Did the Ending Feel...Rushed?
The ending was cute, don't get me wrong. Everyone paired off, happiness reigned supreme. The standard shojo fare.
But it felt a little...too neat? A little too quickly resolved? Like the author was maybe running out of deadlines?
Maybe a couple more volumes to explore the fallout of certain decisions, or to give some of the side characters a bit more love, would have been welcome.
The Curse of the Too-Short Series
It's a common problem, isn't it? When a series is just good enough that you crave more. You want to live in that world a little longer.

You get attached to the characters. You invest in their journeys. Then, bam! It's over. Like ripping off a band-aid...a very cute, shojo band-aid.
I'm not saying the ending was bad. It was fine! Perfectly acceptable. But "fine" isn't always enough, is it?
Alternative Universe: More Volumes!
Just imagine. More time for Kazuomi to be his quirky self. More heartfelt talks between Akarin and Yuna.

More awkward moments for Rio as he tries to navigate his feelings. Okay, maybe not too many more awkward moments. But a few!
Basically, more of everything we loved! More fluff, more angst, more adorable art. Is that too much to ask?
In Conclusion: I Just Wanted More!
So, yes, officially there are ten volumes of Love Me, Love Me Not. But in my heart? In my ideal manga-reading world?
There are twelve. Or maybe even thirteen! What can I say? I'm greedy when it comes to cute romance and compelling characters.

Maybe you agree with me. Maybe you think ten was the perfect number. Either way, let's all agree: it's a pretty darn good manga.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go reread it and imagine those extra chapters. Don't judge me! We all have our vices. Mine is wanting more shojo goodness.
What do you think? Should Love Me, Love Me Not have had more volumes? Let me know in the comments!
