How Many Volumes Of Kiss Him Not Me

Okay, let’s talk about Kiss Him, Not Me. You know, that reverse harem anime/manga where a girl loves BL and loses weight?
The question that haunts us all: How many volumes are there really? Because honestly, I have some thoughts.
The Official Count
Officially, Kiss Him, Not Me has 14 volumes. Fourteen! That's a lot of teenage drama and shipping wars. But is it too much?
Must Read
I'm just gonna put it out there. Maybe... maybe it could've been shorter?
My Unpopular Opinion: Fewer Volumes Would've Been Better
Hear me out! I love Kae Serinuma. She's relatable. She loves her BL. But sometimes, things drag.
Did we really need fourteen volumes for her to, you know, maybe pick someone? Or not! That's also an option!
Some say that all the volumes are neccessary. I say, that could be improved!

The Pacing Problem
Some arcs felt a little... stretched. Like they were filling time before the inevitable ending. I mean, we all knew the end was coming eventually, right?
Remember that one filler arc? The one where it's not really important to the characters and plot? Yeah...
Maybe condensing some of those arcs would have made for a tighter, more impactful story. Just a thought!
Character Development (Or Lack Thereof?)
While I adore all the boys vying for Kae's attention (Igarashi, Nanashima, Shinomiya, and Mutsumi), did they all truly develop enough over fourteen volumes?

I mean, they did change. Sort of. Maybe not enough for such a long series.
I wish they had more defining personalities. Then maybe I would appreciate the 14 volumes more.
The Ending
The ending was... well, it was an ending. Some loved it. Some hated it.
Me? I'm somewhere in the middle. I appreciate that the author went a certain way. But was fourteen volumes necessary to get there?

Perhaps a more streamlined journey would have made the destination feel more satisfying. We're talking about journey of watching Kae, right?
Could It Have Worked With Fewer?
Imagine Kiss Him, Not Me, but with, say, 10 volumes. Tighter plot, snappier pacing, maybe even a more decisive ending?
It could have really focused on Kae's growth as a person. Then we could see her journey.
It might have allowed for deeper exploration of certain themes. Like self-acceptance and the power of friendship.

Ultimately, It's Subjective
Of course, this is just my opinion. Art is subjective. Some people adore every single one of those fourteen volumes.
I'm not saying they're wrong! I'm just saying... I wonder. What if...
But hey, at least we got a fun ride. And lots of BL references. I would like to quote Kae about this.
"Boys' Love is the nourishment of life!" - Kae Serinuma
So, what do you think? Too many volumes? Just the right amount? Let me know!
