It's like one giant, super-long arc. A marathon, not a sprint. The story doesn’t have a natural break between the two "seasons".

They just stopped airing it for a while. Then picked it back up later. Classic anime move to keep us on the edge of our seats (and buying merchandise).

It's a marketing trick! They split it to get double the hype. Double the Blu-ray sales. I see you, animation industry!

The characters evolve constantly. There isn’t a major shift or reset that warrants a whole new season. It all flows continuously.

Plus, think about other long-running shows. Like Naruto or One Piece. They have hundreds of episodes, but we generally think of them as one show. Just with different sagas.

The Real Question

Isn't the real question: did we enjoy it? Absolutely!

Did Shinra kick butt? Yes! Was Arthur as wonderfully delusional as always? Double yes!

Did Tamaki's fan service get a little out of hand? Well…let's not go there.

Ultimately...

Whether you call it one season or two, Fire Force is a fantastic anime. The animation is stunning, the soundtrack is fire (pun intended), and the characters are memorable.

So, next time someone asks how many seasons there are, tell them the truth: there's however many seasons you feel there are in your heart!
