How Many Seasons Of Drag Race All Stars

Okay, Seriously, How Many All Stars Are There?!

Let's be real. Keeping track of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars seasons is harder than doing the splits in a sequined jumpsuit. It feels like a new season pops up every other Tuesday, doesn't it?

I mean, I love it! More Drag Race is always a good thing. But my brain is starting to feel like a scrambled egg trying to remember who won what.

The Great All Stars Count: A Struggle

Officially, we’re floating somewhere around eight, maybe nine seasons? Plus all the international versions that are essentially All Stars too. My DVR is crying.

And don't even get me started on the variations! All Stars with lip sync assassins? All Stars with game-within-a-game twists? My head is spinning faster than Aja after a few too many cocktails.

Is anyone else feeling slightly overwhelmed? Or am I just showing my age? (Don't answer that.)

My Unpopular Opinion: Less is More (Maybe?)

Okay, here's where I might lose some of you. But I'm going to say it anyway. Do we really need an All Stars every year?

Hear me out! Part of what made the early All Stars seasons so iconic was the anticipation. We hadn't seen some of these queens in ages!

Now, it feels like they barely have time to pack their wigs before they're back on set. Where's the "legend" factor?

The "Legend" Problem

Think about it. The power of All Stars is seeing queens who've grown and evolved. We want to see their glow-ups! We want to see their new tricks!

If they're constantly competing, it feels less like a celebration of their legacy and more like...another episode of Drag Race. And isn't the regular season supposed to be the incubator of new talent?

I'm not saying I don't love seeing Shea Couleé snatch crowns. But maybe a little break would make her eventual return even more legendary?

The Solution: Let's Get Selective!

Instead of churning out All Stars every year, what if we got really selective? What if they only invited queens who had been away for, say, five years?

That would give them time to really hone their craft. Time to build a brand. Time to become the true drag superstars we know they can be.

Suddenly, every episode would feel monumental. Every elimination would sting. And the eventual winner? A true, undeniable legend.

Think Chad Michaels levels of legend.

The Bottom Line (And a Plea to RuPaul)

Look, I'll keep watching All Stars as long as they keep making them. I'm a Drag Race addict, what can I say?

But maybe, just maybe, RuPaul will hear my plea. Please, Mama Ru, give us a little breathing room! Let the queens marinate!

Give us All Stars seasons that feel truly special. Seasons that remind us why we fell in love with these queens in the first place. Because honestly, I've lost count. And that's a tragedy.

Just imagine how much more fabulous a queen like Jujubee could be if given longer to concoct her schemes! I for one, want to see it.
