How Many Seasons Are There In This Is Us

Okay, let's talk This Is Us. We all cried, right? Like, a LOT. But a question plagues me. How many seasons are really there?
The Officially Correct Answer (Spoiler: I Disagree)
Everyone says there are six seasons. Six years of Pearson family drama. Six years of flashbacks and flash-forwards. Seems straightforward, doesn't it?
NBC says six. Your friends say six. Even the internet probably says six. But hear me out...

My Unpopular (But Totally Valid) Opinion
I think there are, like, three. Maybe four. Let me explain!
The first season? Amazing. Groundbreaking. Fresh. It set the stage for everything. Clearly a season.
Then, you have the "Middle Years." Seasons two, three, and maybe four? They blend together. Jack died. Rebecca got sick. Randall worried. Rinse and repeat.

Don't get me wrong, good television. But did each of those years feel distinct enough to warrant its own season? I'm not convinced.
The "Stretching It Out" Effect
Think about it. How many storylines felt like they were just… stretched? Dragged out? Looking at you, Nicky Pearson finding love.
It was sweet, sure. But did it need an entire season’s worth of focus? Probably not. We needed some new Jack stories.
And let's not forget the endless discussions about Randall's anxiety. We get it! He's anxious! Move on!

The Final Season (Or Two?)
Season five felt like they were wrapping things up. Preparing for the end. Then season six happened. More wrapping up!
Could those two seasons have been condensed into one super-charged, emotional rollercoaster? Absolutely.
So, I'm proposing a revised count. Season one. The "Middle Years" (seasons two-four, mashed together). Then the "Endgame" (seasons five and six, also combined).

Hear Me Out: It Makes Sense!
By condensing the middle and end, you lose some filler. You get more impactful moments. It's a tighter, more focused story.
Imagine binge-watching a condensed version. Boom! Jack's death hits harder. Boom! Rebecca's illness is more poignant. Boom! Less Nicky love. Less of Randall's anxiety.
I am joking about less of Randall's anxiety (sort of).
The True Number? Depends On Your Perspective.
Ultimately, it’s all subjective. Maybe you loved every single episode. Every single tear-jerking moment. Every single season.

And that’s okay! We can disagree. We can still cry together over This Is Us reruns.
But if you secretly agree with me, that there were a few too many episodes of the Pearson’s navel-gazing, let me know. We can form a support group. A slightly smaller support group, but a support group nonetheless.
So, is it six seasons? Or three (ish)? The answer, my friends, is up to you. Just don't tell Mandy Moore I said any of this.
