How Many Season Does Tokyo Ghoul Have

Okay, let’s talk Tokyo Ghoul. We’re tackling the age-old question: How many seasons ARE there? Seriously, though.
It’s a surprisingly tricky question, isn’t it? Seems simple, but dive in and you'll find a battlefield of opinions.
The "Official" Count
Most sources will tell you there are four seasons. We're talking Tokyo Ghoul, Tokyo Ghoul √A, Tokyo Ghoul:re, and Tokyo Ghoul:re 2nd Season. Sounds straightforward enough, right?
Must Read
But here's where things get interesting. Or, some might say, frustrating. Depends on who you ask!
The Root A Debacle
Let’s address the elephant in the room: Tokyo Ghoul √A. This season... well, it took some liberties. Significant liberties, to say the least.
It veered off the manga's path. Fans often have strong feelings about this. I may or may not be among them.

It's like that one friend who swears they know how to get somewhere. But then you end up completely lost, and slightly annoyed.
The :re Confusion
Then we have Tokyo Ghoul:re. This is technically seasons three and four. Split into two parts, as if to confuse us even more.
This part actually followed the manga (mostly!). So that's a plus. For some.

But splitting it made it feel a bit disjointed, right? Like watching half a movie, then waiting a year for the other half.
My Unpopular Opinion (Brace Yourselves)
Here’s my take, and it’s probably controversial. Don’t hate me! It’s just my opinion.
Tokyo Ghoul has one really good season. And then... other stuff. Hear me out!
The first season was amazing! The introduction, the characters, the horror. It grabbed you. But did the other parts keep that initial flame going?

I believe that after the first season, the anime dipped in quality. The plot got muddy, the characters felt different. I am not the only one who feels this way.
"Tokyo Ghoul √A should be considered an alternate timeline," - Random Fan on the Internet (probably).
So, What's the Real Answer?
Officially? Four seasons. But in my heart? One masterpiece followed by… attempts.
Maybe it's because the manga is so good. The anime just couldn't live up to it. Story of many adaptations.

Ultimately, it’s up to you to decide. Watch it all. Form your own opinions. Then come argue with me online!
Just remember, whatever you decide, let's all agree on one thing. Tokyo Ghoul definitely had an impact on anime culture. It was unforgettable.
Even if some parts were more... memorable... than others.
Happy watching!
