How Many Ncaa Football Games In A Season

Okay, let's talk college football. Specifically, how many games they cram into a season. I'm just going to say it: it feels like too many.
The Regular Season Grind
Most NCAA teams play around 12 regular season games. That's spread out over, what, three months? Seems reasonable... until you really think about it.
Twelve games of bone-crushing hits. Twelve weeks of intense pressure. Twelve opportunities for my team to let me down (kidding... mostly!).
Must Read
Conference Championships?!
But wait! There's more! If your team is good (or lucky) enough, they get to play in a conference championship game. One more game to decide who’s truly the best within their conference.
That makes sense on paper, right? Unless your team already crushed their rival earlier in the season. Then it feels a bit like overkill, doesn't it?
Bowl Mania
And then comes Bowl Season. Ah, yes, the participation trophy portion of the year. Just kidding! Sort of.

Seriously though, it feels like everyone gets a bowl game these days. Winning records? Optional! Showing up? Highly encouraged.
More games! More travel! More chances for questionable officiating! It’s glorious, chaotic, and exhausting all at once.
The Playoffs?! Oh, Come On!
Now, for the creme de la creme: the College Football Playoffs. This is where the "best of the best" battle it out for the ultimate prize.
At least that's the idea. Two or three more games tacked onto an already grueling season. Feels... excessive, doesn't it?

My unpopular opinion: Before the playoffs, it already felt like we were playing into the next calendar year!
So, How Many is Too Many?
So, let's recap. Twelve regular season games, potentially a conference championship, a bowl game, and maybe even two or three playoff games. That’s a lot of football.
We are talking potentially 15 or 16 games!
Imagine being a player. That's a lot of wear and tear on the body. Seems like something Nick Saban would come up with!

I know, I know, I sound like a grumpy old man yelling at a cloud. But seriously, is it just me, or is the season just a tad too long?
Do we really need this many games? Wouldn't it be more exciting to make each one feel more significant?
Perhaps trimming a couple of regular season games would increase the overall quality of play. Less injuries, fresher players, more intensity. Just a thought!
Hear Me Out...
Maybe, just maybe, fewer games would actually make me more invested. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, right?

I’d be less stressed about injuries. Less likely to need therapy after my team chokes (again). And maybe, just maybe, I could reclaim my weekends for other activities. Like, you know, sleeping.
I still LOVE college football. Don't get me wrong! Maybe I just think twelve regular season games should be enough. Fight me!
But let Urban Meyer do it! I am too old! I just need a nap.
Okay, let's watch more football!
