How Many Games Have Been Played In The World Series

Okay, let's talk baseball. More specifically, the World Series. You know, that thing where people get REALLY excited about grown adults hitting a ball with a stick.
But have you ever stopped to wonder about something pretty basic? How many actual games have been played in the entire history of the World Series?
The Big Question: Games Played
Figuring this out is surprisingly tricky. There's no giant "World Series Game Counter" sitting in Cooperstown. We have to do some digging.
Must Read
We know the World Series started way back in 1903. It's been around longer than sliced bread! (Okay, maybe not, but close.)
The Easy Part: Yearly Games
Most of the time, the series is a best-of-seven. That means the first team to win four games takes home the trophy. Easy peasy!
So, usually, each World Series involves somewhere between four and seven games. Makes sense, right?

The Tricky Bits: When Things Got Weird
But baseball history is full of curveballs (pun intended!). There was this little thing called the 1904 World Series. It...didn't happen.
Yep, you read that right. The National League champs (the New York Giants, boo!) refused to play. Talk about a dramatic exit!
Then there was 1994. Remember that year? No World Series. A player's strike ruined all the fun. Ugh!

The Answer (Probably): A Lot
Okay, so after doing some research (aka, a quick Google search), the answer is... somewhere around 750 games.
That's a whole lotta baseball! A whole lotta hot dogs and overpriced beer too!
My Unpopular Opinion
Here's where I get controversial. I think seven games is too many.

Hear me out! By game six or seven, aren't we all just tired? Tired of yelling at the TV. Tired of eating junk food. Tired of baseball in general?
I propose a best-of-five series. Shorter, sweeter, and less stressful on my liver. Plus, it allows for more upsets!
Wouldn't a shorter series make every game feel even more important? Think of the drama!

"But tradition!" I hear you cry.
Tradition is great, but sometimes tradition is boring. Let's shake things up a bit!
So What Have We Learned?
The World Series has been around for ages. It's involved a TON of games. And I have strong feelings about shortening it.
Baseball is a weird sport with a complicated history. It's also a lot of fun (sometimes).
Now if you will excuse me, I'm going to go argue with someone about the designated hitter rule.
