How Many Games Are There In The Nfl

Okay, let's talk football. Specifically, how many games there actually are in the NFL.
Now, everyone knows the regular season has 17 games per team. Plus, there are playoffs and the Super Bowl.
But I'm here to argue that the real number is... way higher.

The Obvious Answer (and Why It's Wrong)
Fine, fine. Technically, with 32 teams playing 17 games each, that's 272 regular season games. Then add the playoff games. Boom! Done. Right?
Nope. I'm not buying it. Here’s why:
Preseason Shenanigans
Let's not forget those "meaningless" preseason games. Okay, maybe meaningless is harsh. But they're mostly for evaluating rookies and avoiding injuries, right?

Still, players are sweating, fans are cheering (or booing), and hot dogs are being consumed. That counts for something!
Even if the starters are barely playing, the coaches are working. Call me crazy, but I believe these games add to the total.
The "What If" Games
Hear me out on this one. Think of all the almost-games. The near misses.
Games where a team almost made the playoffs but choked in week 17? Those games might as well have been playoff games.

And what about the games your favorite team should have won but some terrible call changed everything?
"That was holding!"Yeah, I feel your pain, those also count!
Fantasy Football Frenzy
Don't even get me started on fantasy football. Every single week, millions are invested in players' success.
We’re checking scores obsessively and yelling at our TVs. Are those not games? I think so!

Each week of fantasy is basically like another mini-season for us fans.
My (Unpopular) Opinion
So, how many NFL games are there really? It's impossible to give a definitive number. It changes based on your fandom.
For some people, it’s just those 272 regular-season games. For others, like me, it's closer to infinity.
Every argument about a bad call, every fantasy football lineup decision, every overanalyzed highlight reel... they all add up!

Think about it. We spend hours each week immersed in NFL content. Every article, every podcast, every tweet… they’re connected to the actual games!
So, while the official number is 272 (plus playoffs), the true number is way, way more. I say, let's round up to a million. Minimum!
Don't hate me. Just accept the truth: the NFL never really stops.
And that, my friends, is either a blessing or a curse. Probably both.
