How Many Episodes Of Doom Patrol Season 2

Okay, let's talk Doom Patrol. Specifically, season two. And even MORE specifically, how many episodes it had.
The Official Count
Officially? Nine. Yes, nine glorious episodes. They were filled with weirdness, heartbreak, and talking butts. You know, the usual Doom Patrol stuff.
But here's where my unpopular opinion comes in. Buckle up.
Must Read
The Case for Ten Episodes
Remember that Cliffhanger? The one that abruptly ended things? Yeah, that's the problem. I think of it as unfinished business.
It just felt like there should have been one more. One more to wrap things up a little nicer. You know, tie up some loose ends.
Seriously, a nice little bow on top of all the chaos. Is that too much to ask?
Nine Feels…Short
Don't get me wrong, I devoured every single second of season two. But nine episodes felt rushed. Like the writers were running out of time.

Maybe they were! We'll never know for sure, but it left me wanting...MORE.
Compare it to other superhero shows, or even other seasons of Doom Patrol. Nine just feels... skimpy.
Imagine the Possibilities!
Think about what a tenth episode could have included. Maybe a slightly less jarring resolution for Dorothy. Or more development of the Rita/Cyborg relationship.
Just one more episode! One more chance to bask in the weirdness of Niles Caulder's schemes.

I’m not saying the ending we got was bad. But, a little extra breathing room could have made all the difference.
The Streaming Era Problem
Maybe it's a streaming era problem. Shows feel pressured to be concise. To avoid filler.
But with Doom Patrol, the "filler" is often the best part! The quirky side plots and character moments. The things that make it special.
Cutting things short robbed us of the opportunity to enjoy that.

Maybe I'm Just Greedy
Okay, okay, maybe I'm just a greedy Doom Patrol fan. I admit it!
I just want to spend more time with these lovable losers. Their bizarre adventures always cheer me up.
Is that so wrong? I just wanted more screen time for Larry Trainor and all that Negative energy.
So, How Many Should There Have Been?
Honestly, I’d take twelve. Thirteen even! But realistically, ten would have been perfect.

It would have provided that extra bit of closure. Given the characters a bit more room to breathe. And left us feeling completely satisfied.
Instead of, you know, slightly cheated.
Let's Petition for a Season 2.5!
Okay, that's a joke... Mostly. But seriously, wouldn't a special episode be amazing?
A little reunion. A check-in with the gang. Some more Crazy Jane shenanigans.
Just a thought! In the meantime, I'll be over here rewatching season two and pretending there's a secret tenth episode that only I know about.
A girl can dream!
