How Many Episodes In Season 4 Of Pretty Little Liars

Okay, let's talk Pretty Little Liars. Specifically, season four. Remember that wild ride? Good times. Good, slightly terrifying times.
So, How Many Episodes Were There?
The answer? Twenty-four. Yep, that's right. Twenty-four episodes of mystery, mayhem, and questionable decision-making by our favorite Rosewood residents.
But here's my hot take. An unpopular opinion, maybe. Get ready for it.
Must Read
Too Many Episodes? Hear Me Out!
Twenty-four episodes is... a lot. Especially when "A" takes a coffee break every other episode. Doesn't it feel like some of those could have been trimmed?
Don't get me wrong, I lived for PLL. I gasped at every text message, I analyzed every clue, and I yelled at my TV screen probably more than was healthy.
But were all 24 episodes essential? Did we really need to see Ezra brooding for an entire hour AGAIN?
I think not.

The Filler Episodes: We've All Seen Them
We all know what I'm talking about. The episodes where nothing really happens. Just relationship drama and red herrings that lead nowhere.
I love a good red herring. But even I have my limits. My brain can only handle so many misleading clues before it starts to short-circuit.
Remember when they went ice-skating? I rest my case.
Imagine a Leaner, Meaner Season 4
Picture this: A tightly packed, 16-episode season four. Every episode a banger. No filler. Just pure, unadulterated "A" craziness.

We could have gotten straight to the good stuff! More clues, fewer love triangles (okay, slightly fewer). Think of the possibilities!
The pacing would have been amazing. The suspense? Through the roof! The writers could have focused on the main plot points.
In Defense of Brooding Ezra (Kinda)
Okay, okay. I might have been a little harsh on Ezra. He had his moments. And Ian Harding is undeniably charming.
But even his charm couldn't save some of those Ezra-centric subplots. Especially that whole book thing. shudders

Look, I'm not saying I hate Ezra. I'm just saying maybe a little less Ezra, a little more investigating, would have been ideal.
Final Thoughts: Still Obsessed, Though
Despite my complaints, I still adore Pretty Little Liars. It's a guilty pleasure. A comfort show. A source of endless memes and theories.
And even though season four might have been a bit long, it gave us some iconic moments. The Halloween episode? The dollhouse reveal? Legendary.
So, yeah, maybe 24 episodes was a little excessive. But would I trade it? Probably not. Just don't tell "A" I said that.

Seriously, don't.
She's watching. Always.
Plus, how else would we have gotten all that amazing fashion? The outfits alone were worth at least five episodes. Right? ...Right?
Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe 24 episodes was the perfect number. Maybe I just need to rewatch it. Again. For the tenth time. You know, for research purposes.
Anyway, what do you think? Too many episodes, or just the right amount? Let me know!
