How Many Episodes In Season 4 Of Castle

Okay, let's talk Castle. Specifically, season four. And even more specifically, how many episodes were in that glorious season.
The Big Question: Episode Count
The answer is 23. Twenty-three whole episodes of Castle and Beckett solving crimes, bantering, and generally being awesome. But is that enough?
Some might say yes. Some might even say it's too many. But those people are wrong. (Just kidding... mostly.)

My Unpopular Opinion
Here's my hot take: Season four needed more episodes. Don't @ me.
Hear me out! We were just getting to the good stuff. Beckett remembered everything!
And then… it was over? Too soon! It's like eating one perfect bite of cake and then the whole thing disappears.

Why 23 Wasn't Enough
Think about it. The cliffhanger from season three? HUGE! We waited months to find out what would happen after that motorcycle accident.
Beckett was shot! Castle confessed his love! The tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife.
Twenty-three episodes felt like a sprint after that marathon build-up. We needed more time to savor the post-confession awkwardness. The slow burn towards a real relationship.
We needed more Esposito and Ryan! More ridiculous cases! More Martha Rodgers wisdom! (Okay, maybe a little less Martha sometimes.)

The Filler Episode Argument
I know, I know. Some people complain about filler episodes. The ones that don't directly advance the main storyline.
But even those episodes are gold! They give us character development. They let us breathe.
They show us Castle being a dork, Beckett being a badass, and the whole team working together. That's the charm of the show!

Plus, some of the "filler" episodes are hilarious. Remember the vampire episode? Or the one with the time traveler?
Season Four Highlights (That Could Have Been More!)
Season four had some amazing moments. Castle dealing with his dad, Beckett struggling with PTSD, their first real date… kind of.
These storylines deserved more exploration! More nuance! More episodes!
Imagine a whole arc dedicated to Beckett's recovery. Or a series of episodes where Castle tries (and fails) to impress her family. The possibilities were endless!

The Bottom Line
Look, I love season four of Castle. It's fantastic television.
But deep down, I'll always believe it could have been even better. With, say, 25 or 26 episodes.
So, yes, there were 23 episodes. But in my heart, there should have been more. Anyone else agree? Or am I just shouting into the void?
Let's be honest, is there ever really too much Castle?
