How Many Episodes In Season 2 Of Big Sky

Okay, let's talk Big Sky, Season 2. More specifically, let's talk about how many dang episodes were crammed into that thing. Seriously, did they ever stop filming?
The Official Episode Count: A Landslide
Officially, Big Sky Season 2 boasts a whopping 18 episodes. Eighteen! That’s… a lot. Some shows struggle to hit ten these days.
Eighteen episodes is more episodes than I can remember to watch. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Must Read
Too Much of a Good (or Murdery) Thing?
Now, I love a good murder mystery. I enjoy the twists and turns, especially in the great Montana outdoors, but sometimes... less is more.
Eighteen episodes felt, dare I say it, a little bloated? The pacing started to feel off. It felt stretched like a piece of chewing gum left in the sun.
I am ready to say the unpopular opinion: it dragged! It feels like the writers just didn’t know when to say when.

Unpopular Opinion Alert: Quality vs. Quantity
Hear me out. Wouldn't Big Sky Season 2 have been even better with, say, twelve tightly written episodes? Imagine the suspense! The impact!
Fewer episodes could have allowed the writers to hone in on the core plot. It could have removed some of the filler. I am convinced it would have been better.
Think of it like a perfectly aged whiskey versus a watery cocktail. One leaves you satisfied, the other, well, not so much.

Subplots Galore: A Tangled Web
Look, I appreciate a good subplot as much as the next person. But Season 2 had subplots sprouting like weeds! It was hard to keep track of everything.
Remember that whole thing with Ronald Pergman? It felt like it lasted an entire lifetime. Did we really need that much Ronald?
Sometimes, I think, a clear and concise narrative is better. Cut the fat! Let the main story shine!

The Verdict: Still Entertaining, But Could've Been Tighter
Don't get me wrong, I still watched every episode of Big Sky Season 2. I even yelled at the TV a few times. Because that is what you are suppose to do when Cassie Dewell kicks butt and takes names.
And I do admit that the cliffhangers were good and did keep me coming back for more. Dang those cliffhangers!
But I couldn't shake the feeling that it could have been a tighter, more impactful season. A shorter season would have made Big Sky a more effective series.

Season 3 and Beyond: A Hopeful Plea
So, here's hoping that future seasons of Big Sky find that sweet spot. The one where we get compelling characters, thrilling mysteries, and just the right amount of episodes.
Maybe Season 3 can hit the mark and find a great balance! I will keep watching to find out!
Please, Big Sky writers, give us quality over quantity! My binge-watching schedule (and sanity) will thank you.
