How Many Episodes In Season 1 Of Dexter New Blood

Okay, let's talk about Dexter: New Blood. Specifically, how many episodes it had. Get ready for some strong opinions!
The Great Episode Count Debate
You all know it, right? It was 10. Ten episodes of Dexter trying to be a lumberjack. Then... something else. Let's just say it was a journey.
But here's my hot take. A slightly controversial view, if you will. Ten episodes? Was it really enough?
Must Read
More, More, I Scream for More! (Maybe)
Now, I know what you're thinking. "Ten's a good number!" "It's a nice, round number!" But hear me out. I think it could have used more. Like, maybe two or three more. Just saying.
Think about it. We had to re-introduce Dexter. Then, we had to get to know Harrison, all grown up and angsty. All this happened in such a short amount of time. It felt a little rushed.
I mean, Dexter spent years hiding in Miami. We had 8 seasons to get to know him. This new world in Iron Lake needed more time to breathe.

Too Much, Too Little, Just Right?
Maybe I'm just greedy. Maybe I wanted to see more of the quirky townspeople. Or maybe I wanted more scenes of Dexter awkwardly navigating fatherhood. Who knows?
Some might argue that more episodes would have dragged things out. That it would have watered down the story. And, okay, I see that. But still... I crave more!
Perhaps the writers were constrained. Maybe the budget only allowed for ten. Whatever the reason, I'm left wanting.

The Ending… Oh, the Ending!
Let's be real. A lot of people weren't thrilled with the ending. I won’t spoil it here, but you know. That ending.
Perhaps with a few extra episodes, the writers could have massaged the ending a bit better. Given us more time to emotionally prepare. Or at least, make us feel like it wasn’t so abrupt.
Instead, it felt like a punch to the gut. Did the shortened season contributed to that feeling?

Unpopular Opinion Time
Okay, so here it is. My unpopular opinion, stated plainly. Dexter: New Blood needed more episodes. There, I said it!
It wasn't a terrible season, by any means. Michael C. Hall was phenomenal as always. And the setting was certainly interesting.
But it could have been so much better. More developed. More nuanced. All with just a few extra episodes.

The Verdict
So, there you have it. My slightly unhinged thoughts on the episode count of Dexter: New Blood. Ten episodes it was.
Was it enough? In my humble opinion, no. It could have benefitted from a few more. More story, more character development, and maybe a less polarizing ending.
But hey, that's just my opinion. What do you think? Am I completely off my rocker? Let me know!
