How Long Is The New Demon Slayer Episode

Okay, let's be real. How long is that new Demon Slayer episode really?

The Official Time vs. The Perceived Time

Officially, it's around 23-24 minutes, right? That's what Crunchyroll and everyone else claims. But does it feel that way?

I'm going to go out on a limb here... Nope! It definitely feels longer.

First, there's the opening theme. A banger, no doubt! LiSA is awesome.

But after a while, the opening gets repetitive, especially when you're waiting for new action.

Then comes the recap. Remember what happened last week? Of course, you do! You literally just watched it last week!

Why are we reliving Tanjiro's pain again? We get it, he's sad.

Don't even get me started on the ending credits. Another great song! It plays while showing random artwork.

But when you're hyped for what's coming next, those credits are the equivalent of watching paint dry.

Then there is the cliffhanger preview of the next episode. A cruel joke to keep us hooked.

Here's where I might lose some of you. I actually think... the episodes could be shorter!

I know! Blasphemy! But hear me out.

Cut the recaps. Trim the opening. A bit less "standing around talking" (sorry, not sorry). More actual demon-slaying action!

"But the character development!" I hear you cry. "The emotional depth!"

I appreciate a good cry as much as the next person. Zenitsu does that plenty for all of us.

But sometimes, you just want to see someone get sliced by a cool sword technique.

So, factoring in all the fluff (as much as we love some of it), what's the actual "new content" runtime?

I'd wager it's closer to 15-18 minutes. Maybe.

Which isn't bad, per se. But it feels longer when you're anticipating the good stuff!

Ultimately, the new Demon Slayer episode is as long as the plot demands.

But in my heart (and my impatient brain), it always feels like a looooong 24 minutes.
