Hero I Quit A Long Time Ago Anime Episodes

Okay, let's be real. We've all been there. That anime you started with SO much enthusiasm. Then... thud. It hit a wall.
Specifically, certain episodes did. The dreaded "Hero I Quit A Long Time Ago" episodes.
The Tournament Arc That Never Ends
Ah yes, the tournament arc. Anime loves them. We initially do too. But after the 7th episode of the same punch-block-punch-block routine? My excitement wanes.
Must Read
Suddenly, I'm checking my phone every five seconds. The protagonist's super-secret training montage loses its appeal. I can practically hear my motivation fleeing.
Seriously, how many power-ups can one character get? By episode 12, I'm rooting for the underdogs out of pure boredom.
Beach Episode Blues
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate fan service. But a randomly inserted beach episode 18 episodes into a dark fantasy series? It feels... jarring.

Like, we're trying to save the world here! Can't we focus on the impending doom instead of swimsuits and misunderstandings? The fate of the kingdom hangs in the balance, people!
And let's be honest, the humor is often painfully predictable. Someone's gonna fall, someone's gonna get splashed. I've seen it all before.
The "Filler" Files
Oh, filler episodes. The bane of every anime watcher's existence. They're like the broccoli of the anime world. You know you should watch them, but you really, really don't want to.

Usually it's a flashback episode recapping the previous 20. I am good, thanks. This episode also contains a side quest completely unrelated to the main plot. It never fails.
I get it, the studio needs time for the manga to get ahead. But my precious free time is also valuable! Is it really worth seeing protagonist's name help an old lady find her cat for 22 minutes?
The Unnecessary Origin Story
We're knee-deep in the final battle. The stakes are higher than ever. And THEN... a 3-episode flashback detailing a minor character's tragic backstory? Why now?
Look, I'm not saying I don't care about Side Character McSideface's childhood trauma. But maybe save it for a spin-off? Or literally any other time?

Now is really not the time to be exploring why they became a villain. We are kinda busy saving the world.
The Recap Rumble
Recap episodes. Pure, unadulterated evil. They are sometimes disguised as "special episodes."
I've already invested hours into this show. I remember what happened last week! This is why streaming services have a "previously on" section.

It feels like a blatant attempt to pad out the episode count. And honestly, it makes me feel slightly insulted. Do you think I have the memory of a goldfish?
The Unpopular Opinion Zone
So, am I alone in this? Do these types of episodes make anyone else want to throw their remote at the TV?
Maybe I'm just impatient. Maybe I have a low tolerance for filler. But sometimes, the hero I quit a long time ago...is the anime itself. Or at least, certain episodes of it.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have a list of "Skippable Episodes" to compile. My sanity depends on it.
