Fruits Basket Season 2 Episode 1 Funimation

Fruits Basket Season 2 Episode 1 Funimation

Okay, Let's Talk Fruits Basket Season 2 Episode 1

Remember when Fruits Basket Season 2 finally dropped? It was a glorious day for awkward zodiac transformations and existential angst! But let's be real, Episode 1 had some… interesting choices.

A Slow Burn? More Like a Controlled Simmer.

Don't get me wrong. I love a good slow burn. But did anyone else feel like the pacing in this episode was a tad… leisurely? It felt like it was taking its sweet time.

It was like they were saying, "Hey, remember these characters? Still here! Still cursed!" We get it! Show us the drama, the tears, the heartwarming moments!

Tohru's Unwavering Optimism: A Blessing and a Curse

Look, Tohru is the purest cinnamon roll to ever exist. Her unwavering optimism is her trademark. We need her optimism in our life.

But sometimes, doesn't her naivete get a little grating? Just a tiny bit? Maybe it's just me!

Shigure's Still a Mystery (And Annoying)

Speaking of personalities…Shigure! What are you even doing? Seriously.

He's always scheming and hiding things. He's so enigmatic and creepy. Sometimes I just want to shake him until he reveals all his secrets!

The Art Style: Consistent, But…

Visually, Fruits Basket is gorgeous. It is very vibrant. The character designs are top-notch.

But did anyone else miss the slight edge the original anime had? Maybe I'm just being nostalgic.

The Humor: Hit or Miss?

The humor in Fruits Basket is generally fantastic. It provides some much-needed levity. Gotta love it.

However, some of the jokes in this episode felt a little…forced? I didn't laugh that hard. Maybe I was just in a bad mood.

Kyo's Tsundere-ness: Officially Overload

Ah, Kyo. The resident hothead with a heart of gold (eventually). The best tsundere in the world!

His tsundere act was in full swing in this episode. I love it, but at times it can feel a bit repetitive.

The Hype Was Real, But…

Look, I went into Fruits Basket Season 2 with HUGE expectations. Huge I tell you. It had been so long in the making.

And while Episode 1 wasn't bad, it wasn't the earth-shattering experience I was hoping for. It’s setting the stage, sure. But could it have set it a little faster?

Unpopular Opinion Time: Prepare Yourselves!

Okay, here it comes. My truly unpopular opinion.

Ready? Deep breath. I think Episode 1 is one of the weaker episodes of the entire season. There, I said it!

Don't Get Me Wrong, I Still Love Fruits Basket!

Before you come at me with pitchforks, let me clarify! I adore Fruits Basket. The storyline is epic.

It has great character development, and tackles important themes with grace and sensitivity. It also delivers on many levels. But this specific episode didn't quite hit the mark for me.

The Season Got Better, Right?

The rest of Season 2? Amazing! Absolutely phenomenal! The emotional rollercoaster was off the charts.

So maybe Episode 1 was just a necessary hurdle to get to the good stuff. A little bit of set up before the tears really started flowing. What do you think?

Let's Discuss!

Did you love Episode 1? Did you hate it? Did you think it was just…okay?

Let me know your thoughts! Let's have a (polite) discussion about our feelings for this beloved anime. After all, that's what fandom is all about!
