Fire Emblem Three Hopes Maddening

Okay, so you wanna talk about Fire Emblem: Three Hopes on Maddening? Buckle up, buttercup. It's... an experience. A challenging experience. Let's just say you'll be questioning every life choice that led you to this point. You know, like, "Why did I ever think I was good at strategy games?"
Seriously though, Maddening mode is not for the faint of heart. We're talking no casual mode crutches here. Permadeath? Oh, it's lurking. Believe me.
The Maddening Mindset
First off, forget everything you think you know about Fire Emblem. Or at least, adjust your expectations. This isn't a leisurely stroll through Fódlan; it's a desperate scramble for survival against hordes of ridiculously strong enemies. Did someone say ridiculously? I meant insanely.
Must Read
Preparation is key. Like, obsessively planning every single move. You'll need a spreadsheet. Maybe two. Okay, I'm exaggerating... a little. But seriously, pay attention to class skills, weapon ranks, adjutants, everything! It all matters. I'm not kidding.
Early Game is HELL.

Oh, the early game... where even a lone goblin can feel like a final boss. Remember when you were casually steamrolling through chapters on Hard? Yeah, those days are GONE. You'll be relying on every trick in the book: terrain bonuses, gambits, strategic retreats. And prayers, lots and lots of prayers. And maybe save scumming. Don't judge me.
Pro-tip: Abuse those adjutants! They're your lifeline. Think of them as your personal bodyguards, always ready to swoop in and save your squishy mages from certain death. And believe me, your mages are squishy. Like, paper-thin squishy.

Unit Compositions and Strategies
Forget about building your favorite units just because you like their personalities. On Maddening, it's all about efficiency. You need a well-oiled machine of death, not a bunch of lovable goofballs (though, you can still have lovable goofballs... who are also extremely deadly).
Speaking of death, learn to love Falcon Knights and Wyvern Lords. Mobility is king in this mode. You need to be able to reposition quickly, swoop in for a kill, and then retreat to safety before you get swarmed. Don't have a flier? Well... good luck.
Gambits Are Your Best Friend

Seriously. They can turn the tide of battle. Especially the ones that inflict status ailments like Stun or Bind. Stun is your GOD, use him often. Nothing's more satisfying than watching a powerful enemy get completely shut down by a well-timed gambit. It gives you a bit of time to breathe. And maybe laugh maniacally. Just a little.
Accepting the Inevitable
Look, even with the best planning and the most optimized team, you're going to fail. A lot. Units will die (unless you're a save-scumming god, in which case, teach me your ways). Missions will be lost. But don't give up! Learn from your mistakes, adjust your strategy, and try again. Because eventually, you will prevail. Probably.

And when you finally do conquer Maddening mode, the feeling is... glorious. A euphoric rush of accomplishment. A sense of, "I DID IT! I AM THE GREATEST STRATEGIST IN ALL OF FÓDLAN!" You know, just a normal, everyday feeling.
So, is it worth it? Absolutely. It's a challenging, rewarding, and often frustrating experience that will test your skills and push you to your limits. Just don't blame me when you start seeing pixelated enemies in your dreams. You've been warned.
Now, go forth and conquer... or get conquered. Either way, good luck!
