Final Fantasy 14 Unauthorized To Summon Mount

Okay, let's talk about something probably no one agrees with me on. It's about mounts in Final Fantasy 14. Specifically, the ones you just... can't summon sometimes.

Like, I'm standing right here. On perfectly flat ground. Why can't I summon my fat chocobo?

The Great Mount Summoning Conspiracy

I swear, there's some sort of algorithm at play here. It's like the game is actively trying to annoy me.

Maybe it's because I'm wearing the wrong hat. Or because the weather is slightly off. Who knows?

Honestly, I just want to ride my magitek armor everywhere. Is that too much to ask, Square Enix?

Unsummonable Zones: A Personal Hell

Let's be real, some zones are Mount Summoning Forbidden Zones. You know the ones.

Those tiny little areas between objectives? Yeah, those. Apparently, my Grani is too big for them.

I'm convinced these areas exist solely to make me walk. And I do enough walking in real life, thank you very much.

I'm also not a fan of being unmounted mid-air because I flew "too high" in the Ruby Sea. How high is too high, game?

Walking Simulator 14

FFXIV is amazing, don't get me wrong. But sometimes, it feels like Walking Simulator 14.

Especially when I'm trying to get somewhere quickly. The game laughs in my face.

It's like, "Oh, you thought you could fly across this zone? Think again, Warrior of Light!"

Why must I traverse this vast world on foot, a mere mortal? I have a Bennu waiting!

The Underwater Mount Dilemma

And what about underwater mounts? They're cool and all, but...limited.

I mean, I can't use them everywhere underwater. Which makes sense... kind of.

But still! I want to ride my shark through the rivers of La Noscea! Is that so wrong?

Is it really about gameplay balance?

I hear the arguments about gameplay balance. It's allegedly for the sake of immersion. I call shenanigans!

Immersion is me riding my Regalia off a cliff and landing perfectly safely. That's the immersion I crave.

Plus, who are we kidding? We're all wearing ridiculous outfits and summoning glowing unicorns. Immersion sailed long ago.

A Plea to the Developers

Dear Square Enix, please. Just let me summon my mount wherever I want.

Within reason, of course. I'm not asking to summon my mount inside someone's house. (Okay, maybe a little.)

Just give us a bit more freedom. Let us experience the joy of instant transportation. Make Eorzea great again! (With more mounts.)

I'm probably alone in this. But if you agree, let me know. Misery loves company. Especially when it involves inconvenient foot travel.

So, until then, I will continue to grumble about Mount Summoning Unauthorized. And walk. Probably uphill. Both ways.
